Description

This is the result of a "sliding doors" moment from 2019. After losing his Tassie crop to smoke taint, Jim Chatto headed to Burgundy for harvest, linked up with Jane Eyre, and started this collaboration. Jim makes several parcels of Burgundy at Jane’s winery, applying his precise Tassie Pinot lens to some of the Côte d’Or’s best dirt.

'Les Lavières' is a respected Savigny Premier Cru sitting on flat limestone slabs (laves). These 80-year-old vines handled the warm 2022 season beautifully. Jim used 15% whole bunches and a modest touch of new oak, letting the site’s natural muscle do the work. It’s a concentrated wine, tightly wound with deep red and black fruits, but it retains the hallmark Chatto elegance.

The palate is bold and textural with plenty of flesh. The tannins are strong and nicely defined, framing a core of dark cherry and savoury spice. It finishes with a persistent mineral drive and that earthy, classical Burgundy character. With only 576 bottles produced globally, it’s a rare, authoritative take on a great site. Just 29 bottles available. There were 30, but we drank one, obviously.

A bold, muscular wine with great depth and flesh. A powerhouse of flavour. Tightly wound and deep red to black fruits this is an exciting thing to watch open and develop.

Chatto Wines

Jim Chatto is revered as one of the finest winemakers currently working in Australia.

His recent reinvigoration at Mount Pleasant in the Hunter Valley has received phenomenal critical acclaim, as has his personal Tasmanian project, Chatto wines.

After purchasing a plot of land that Jim describes as "right on the edge of viticultural possibility", planting began in 2007.

In only a short amount of time, this site has produced some extraordinary wines and looks set to become one of the Apple Isle most prized viticultural assets.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
