The 2021 Les Tosses is one of Terroir al Límit’s most profound expressions of Priorat, showcasing the precision and depth that define this elite producer.

Sourced from an ancient two-hectare vineyard northeast of Torroja, Les Tosses sits at an altitude of 650 metres on deep black slate soils. The 80-year-old bush vines, primarily Carignan with a touch of Grenache, are planted at high density on steep, east-facing slopes, receiving meticulous care to ensure only the finest fruit is used. Fermented with 100% whole bunches and indigenous yeasts, the wine undergoes eight months of aging in concrete vessels to preserve its purity and sense of place.

On the palate, this medium-bodied Carignan is both precise and layered, with ultra-fine tannins and vibrant acidity complementing its mineral-driven structure. While approachable now, it is still in its youth, promising even greater complexity with time.

Les Tosses is a Vi d’Altura, the equivalent of a Grand Cru, and one of Terroir al Límit’s finest expressions of Priorat. Alongside Les Manyes, it represents the pinnacle of their craft, showcasing the purity of Carignan (Les Tosses) and Grenache (Les Manyes). These are among Spain’s greatest red wines.

The two-hectare Les Tosses vineyard sits on a steep ridge of deep, black slate soils northeast of Torroja at an impressive altitude of 650 meters—rare for such an ancient site. The 80-year-old bush vines, predominantly Carignan with a hint of Grenache, are planted at a density of 6,605 vines per hectare. Facing east, the vineyard enjoys the first light of day and meticulous care from the Terroir al Límit team, with each vine treated as a treasured asset.

For this bottling, only the finest fruit from the site is used (the rest contributes to the village wine). The wine is fermented with 100% whole bunches and indigenous yeasts, with pressing occurring midway through fermentation, followed by eight months of aging in concrete vessels. Terrroir al Limit

Terroir al Límit is a winery redefining the boundaries of Priorat, one of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions. Founded in 2001 by Dominik Huber and South African winemaker Eben Sadie, this project has become a beacon for a new style of Priorat—where finesse, balance, and purity take precedence over power and opulence.

Rooted in the rugged hills of Catalonia, Terroir al Límit embraces the philosophy that great wines are born in the vineyard. Old vines of Garnatxa and Carinyena, grown biodynamically on steep slate soils, provide the foundation. In the cellar, minimal intervention is key: whole-bunch fermentation, concrete tanks, and short macerations preserve the vibrancy and soul of the fruit. Oak barrels? A thing of the past.

Huber’s wines are a revelation—ethereal reds and textural whites that offer a fresh, almost Burgundian-like perspective on Priorat. Flagship wines like Les Manyes and Les Tosses showcase single vineyards with astounding clarity and depth, while Pedra de Guix redefines what a white Priorat can be.
