Description

Regarded as one of Spain’s finest reds, Les Manyes is the ultimate realisation of Dominik Huber’s vision for Priorat—an exceptional wine that captures the region’s rugged beauty in its purest form.

Sourced from the region’s highest vineyard at 800 metres in the Montsant ranges, this Vi d’Altura (Grand Cru equivalent) features 55-year-old Garnatxa Peluda vines rooted in cool, north-facing clay soils with quartz and limestone. This unique site, with its high elevation and cooler microclimate, produces a Grenache of remarkable elegance and intensity. The wine is crafted with 100% whole-bunch fermentation using indigenous yeasts and aged exclusively in concrete, allowing the vineyard’s character to shine without distraction.

On the palate, Les Manyes offers vivid layers of wild strawberry, blood orange, and crushed rocks, with fine, seamless tannins and a tension-filled acidity that carries through to an endlessly long, nervy finish. This vintage balances power and delicacy, exuding an almost Burgundian transparency and grace.

The 2021 Les Manyes is a breathtaking expression of Grenache, redefining what’s possible in Priorat with finesse and purity.

"Wild, tangy nose full of white pepper, mezcal, blood oranges, and forest floor... an extremely long, nervy finish. Irresistibly attractive now, but can hold."
- Zekun Shuai (James Suckling)

"Beautifully vivid flavours of wild strawberries, rose petals, wild herbs, and crushed rocks... detailed and finely etched with an endless finish."
- Fintan Kerr (Decanter)

"Juicy and easy to drink, with notes that made me think of Château Rayas... very young but elegant and fruit-driven, with more complexity to come."
- Luis Gutiérrez (The Wine Advocate)

99 points - "An epiphany here with its wild, tangy nose full of white pepper, mezcal, blood oranges, forest floor and dried herbs. Really broad and precise, with a chunk of fine, mealy tannins that knit seamlessly on the palate. Nice bitterness at the end to seal it up before an extremely long, nervy finish. Pure garnacha peluda from Les Manyes vineyard. It goes on and on. 3506 bottles. Irresistibly attractive now, but can hold." - Zekun Shuai (James Suckling)

99 points - "As spectacular as it was when I first tasted it
last year. Delicate smoky reduction notes with beautifully vivid flavours of wild strawberries, rose petals, wild herbs and crushed rocks. So detailed and finely etched, yet powered with incredible flavour and an endless finish. Pushing Priorat to the limit, indeed." - Fintan Kerr (Decanter)

97 points - "The impressive 2021 Les Manyes was very young and a little closed, even reductive and took time in the glass to take off. It slowly developed an acute note of violets and wild plants. It has a little more color than the 2019, but the maceration was more or less the same, so it must be from the year. It's very attractive, juicy and easy to drink, with notes that made me think of Château Rayas. It's fresher than the 2019 I tasted next to it. It's elegant and fruit-driven, right now very young, and it still doesn't have the complexity that it should gain over time." - Luis Gutiérrez (The Wine Advocate)

Les Manyes is a Vi d’Altura, the equivalent of a Grand Cru, sourced from the highest vineyard in Priorat at an extraordinary 800 meters in the Montsant ranges. This cool, north-facing site spans just 1.4 hectares, with 55-year-old vines rooted in predominantly clay soils with quartz and limestone. Planted almost entirely to Grenache—specifically Garnatxa Peluda, a mutation with smaller, thicker-skinned berries that deliver higher acidity and lower alcohol—this vineyard produces a Grenache unlike any other in Priorat.

Les Manyes defies Priorat’s blockbuster reputation, offering the finesse, intensity, and transparency of a great Grand Cru Burgundy. The wine is fermented with 100% whole bunches and indigenous yeasts, and since 2016, it has seen no contact with wood, emphasizing purity and site expression.

This bottling is the ultimate expression of Dominik Huber’s vision, symbolizing the unique character of his wines. Despite its status as one of Spain’s greatest reds, Les Manyes comes with a price tag that remains remarkably accessible compared to its Priorat peers.

Terrroir al Limit

Terroir al Límit is a winery redefining the boundaries of Priorat, one of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions. Founded in 2001 by Dominik Huber and South African winemaker Eben Sadie, this project has become a beacon for a new style of Priorat—where finesse, balance, and purity take precedence over power and opulence.

Rooted in the rugged hills of Catalonia, Terroir al Límit embraces the philosophy that great wines are born in the vineyard. Old vines of Garnatxa and Carinyena, grown biodynamically on steep slate soils, provide the foundation. In the cellar, minimal intervention is key: whole-bunch fermentation, concrete tanks, and short macerations preserve the vibrancy and soul of the fruit. Oak barrels? A thing of the past.

Huber’s wines are a revelation—ethereal reds and textural whites that offer a fresh, almost Burgundian-like perspective on Priorat. Flagship wines like Les Manyes and Les Tosses showcase single vineyards with astounding clarity and depth, while Pedra de Guix redefines what a white Priorat can be.

With a vision rooted in sustainability and respect for tradition, Terroir al Límit is leading the charge for a lighter, more expressive future for Priorat—and Spanish wine as a whole.
