A very hard grape to get right is Gewürztraminer, though I’d say they’ve done a fine job of it here... Bang on.
About The Wine
The Gewurztraminer from the Kerri Greens collective is a restrained, elegant rendition of the variety.
Whilst all the intoxicating perfume of the variety is retained, this is tucked in tight. With no malo and just a tiny bit of residual sugar, the natural acidity keeps the wine fresh and light on its feet.
Where many examples of Gewurztraminer can be overblown, this is a nice easy drinking version. You'll make short work of a bottle of this, easily... but get it quick, only a very small batch made.
About Kerri Greens
Kerri Greens is a lo-fi Mornington Peninsula outfit here born from a spin off of the iconic Quealy family label.
Tom McCarthy is the son of Kevin and Kathleen, raised in the family business, he knows Mornington Peninsula vineyards like the back of his hand. For the Kerri Greens label, he and Quealy vineyard manager Lucas Blanck and their partners Sarah Saxton and Alyce Blanck, have teamed up to start a small label exploring some of these sites.
Great wines emerging here - sensitively farmed, hand crafted - lovely modern expressions of the Mornington.
