Dalwhinnie’s highest, steepest vineyard has delivered something special in 2021. The Pinnacle combines the concentration this Victorian estate is known for with the finesse of a long, mild season, and it deserves a place on any serious Shiraz shortlist.
Planted in the early 1990s, the block has more quartz in its soils than anywhere else on the property. It’s also the earliest-ripening of Dalwhinnie’s single sites, and the measured pace of 2021 allowed the fruit to reach full ripeness at moderate alcohol.
Just three tonnes were harvested from the block, hand picked and fully destemmed before fermentation in two small batches. After 15 days on skins, the wine spent 14 months in new and used oak puncheons, a shorter maturation than has been traditional at Dalwhinnie.
Dark plum, blackberry and red berry fruit come with warm spice, bay leaf and a little cedar. It’s medium-bodied but concentrated, with fine tannins and a long, savoury finish that gives it plenty of appeal now.
Open it with time to breathe, or put it away and follow it over the next two decades. A standout vintage from Dalwhinnie’s most consistent vineyard block, with the structure and balance to reward a proper stint in the cellar.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.
What that means for you:
- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate
Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.
