About The Wine
In 1998, David Kilpatrick began planting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on a small plot just outside Hobart with a view to make top-flight cool climate wines.
Now, over 20 years later and the wines are truly fulfilling their promise.
This Chardonnay is very good value in the context of Tasmanian wine. It was made by Anna Pooley, who has turned out some of the most highly rated Chardonnays in the country of late under her family label.
It's a great buy if you are chasing a modern example of cool-climate Chardonnay. You can buy with confidence.
About Clarence House
Bought and planted by Dr David Kilpatrick in 1998, the Clarence House vineyard is made up of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Tempranillo, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
While he is very hands on, and involved in the day to day of the property, he entrusts the vineyard management, and winemaking to professionals.
Mark Hoey, a generational grape-grower looks after the vineyards, and uses his expertise in organic and biodynamic farming to nurture the vines without the use of chemical sprays or synthetic materials.
In the winery, regional superstars Anna Pooley & Justin Bubb, guide the fruit to bottle, providing their award winning expertise to their neighbour and friend David.
