About the Wine
If you're looking for freshness, interest and easy drinking, look no further. This is the wine for you. Made entirely from Braucol, it was fermented with 50% whole bunches and in concrete tanks. For the uninitiated, this is a wine which would look best with a slight chill - half an hour or so in the fridge before serving would be great.
Sappy, juicy, spicy and, most importantly, easy, this is definitely for the glouglou crowd. It does have a concentration of red berries and cassis at it's core, but the acid is bright and crunchy, making it as refreshing as a red wine can be. There is a great lick of dried herbs, spices and bramble leaves which make for great complexity too.
About Domaine Plageoles
A lot has been said about the brothers Plageoles. Robert and Bernard have been responsible for "putting Gaillac on the map" and are widely respected for their wines, which are uncompromising reflections of their own passion. Not bad for a couple of renegades.
Working together with Bernard's children, Romain and Florent, the family are dedicated to maintaining Gaillac's traditions but aim to make them accessible and relevant to a new generation of wine drinkers - light, fresh and food friendly "bistro" styles rather than big and demanding wines. They also choose to bottle the wines unblended, which is at odds with AOC regulations, but allows them to showcase the unique nature of Gaillac's indigenous varieties. They have already brought several grapes back from the verge of extinction, and are continuously planting more.
