Description

With some of the best vineyards across Langhe, the Oddero Barolo is a benchmark release every year, and is looked upon as a wine emblematic of Barolo.

Brilliant garnet-red in colour, developing those rusty brick characteristics that these wines are known for. Classic bouquet, very pleasant, intense yet ethereal, at times spiced, with aromas of truffles, liquorice and dried flowers.

Like all wines from the region, the tannin is big, powerful and persistent.

93+ Points - "In 2018, Oddero made a Brunate and a Vigna Rionda, though all the other crus were blended away into this wine. So it includes Fiasco, Bricco Chiesa, Capalot, Bussia, Villero, Rocche di Castiglione and Monvigliero. I’m thinking that 2018 might be what you might call ‘A Burgundy fanciers Barolo vintage.’ Importer: Mondo Imports.

Spiced sweet strawberry, aniseed and dried flower perfume, a distinct almond and hazelnut character, plus a cinch of orange peel to go. It’s medium-bodied, fresh and spicy, again the orange peel perfume and subtle bitterness through it, with fine brick dust tannin, red fruits and juicy orange acidity, and a long dusty, yet kind of succulent finish. It’s an excellent wine from a tricky vintage, and I reckon you could say it has a classic feel and elegance that should serve it well over the years to come." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

    Super delicious, bright red fruit with brick 🧱

Rigorous manual selection of grapes in the vineyard. Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel for 20 days at a controlled temperature of 28-29C, followed by malolactic fermentation. They occur separately for the three vineyards, as well as the malolactic fermentation.

The wines coming from the different vineyards are aged separately in 40, 60 and 75 -hectolitre Slavonian and Austrian oak barrels for 30 months. The wines are blended in the spring, then bottled at the end of the summer and aged in the bottle for another 6 months before release on the market.
