Description

Ed Carr pretty much wrote the book on Tasmanian sparkling, and this 2017 release shows exactly why Arras sits at the top of the tree. Sourced from cold sites across Tasmania - mainly the Coal River and Derwent Valleys - this is a blend that leans heavily on Pinot Noir (73%), giving it real weight and presence.

What sets this apart is the patience involved. It spent seven years on lees before release, which is the kind of aging regime usually reserved for prestige Champagne. That long stint in the bottle transforms what could be a simple fruity wine into something much more savoury and layered.

In the glass, it’s a subtle rose-gold colour. You get the expected hit of fresh raspberry and strawberry, but it’s backed up by toasted brioche, marzipan and roasted hazelnuts. With a low dosage of just 3.1g/L, it feels bone dry and precise, with a crisp mineral acidity that cuts right through the creamy texture. It is intricate, serious fizz that feels luxurious without trying too hard.

"If it’s true that we buy first with our eyes, then shut up and take my money. We’re again in low-dosage territory, with only 3.1 g/L. And the fruit shines... The finish is tense and precise, with a satisfyingly chalky bite."
- Lisa Cardelli (Wine Pilot)

"The wine is bright and energetic in the mouth, delicate yet intense, with piercing flavour that is layered and complex, dry and refreshing at the finish and entertaining to the last drop... An outstanding spakling rosé."

"Finishes long and graceful with an impressive length of flavour. It's a stunner."

98 points - "A combination of 73% Pinot Noir and 27% Chardonnay, displaying a mesmerizing rose-gold colour. If it’s true that we buy first with our eyes, then shut up and take my money. We’re again in low-dosage territory, with only 3.1 g/L. And the fruit shines. A vibrant, lifted, mildly aromatic yet composed nose, so gently perfumed yet so incisive, unfurls notes of distilled redcurrant, cherry, fresh rose, and lavender. Utterly gentle on the palate yet ticking all the boxes: an uber fine perlage caresses the mouth with its velvety touch, as if wearing a silk glove. The finish is tense and precise, with a satisfyingly chalky bite." - Lisa Cardelli (Wine Pilot)

97 points - "Very pale salmon colour, a very delicately coloured rosé. Discreet, subtle bouquet framing smoky, toasty and nutty aromas, with background traces of pastry and a hint of dried strawberry. The wine is bright and energetic in the mouth, delicate yet intense, with piercing flavour that is layered and complex, dry and refreshing at the finish and entertaining to the last drop. The finish is extremely long with beautifully judged phenolics adding structure and drive. An outstanding spakling rosé." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

96 points - "73/27% pinot noir/chardonnay fermented in a combination of stainless steel and new French oak barriques (5.5%); dosage 3.1g/L, disgorged November '24. Energetic, with a superfine bead and mousse and aromas of red apple, red cherry and redcurrant with layers of soft spice, grilled nuts, sea spray, stone and distant wafts of rosewater and a suggestion of Turkish delight. Coal River pinot leads here with some Upper Derwent and Ouse fruit to, as Ed Carr says, 'pull the sides in and tighten it up'. There is a layered complexity to this wine that is just gorgeous, and a sapid, minerally driveline that seems to pull the wine across the palate. Finishes long and graceful with an impressive length of flavour. It's a stunner." - Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "A pretty and understated wine that delivers complexity in slippery, silky, slightly grippy texture, a core of saline minerality, licks of red fruits, sweet spice, a touch of creamy vanilla, faint caraway seed and aniseed notes and touches of tonic water and quality mineral water. A little grip and chalky pucker to close. Very beautiful. Supreme elegance." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
