2025 Mulline Portarlington Pinot Noir

This is the second vintage of the Portarlington Pinot Noir since the two Bens took over the full management of the Nurringa Park vineyard. Located just a kilometer from the sea on the Bellarine Peninsula, the site’s volcanic soils and maritime exposure result in what Ben Mullen calls "fruit hand-grenades" - tiny, concentrated MV6 bunches that pack a punch despite the cool coastal air.

While the seaside location usually implies lightness, the 2025 shows plenty of structural intent. Mullen used 30% whole bunches and 30% new French oak to balance that natural concentration. It's given them a wine that is unabashed in its tannic grip but that retains the high-toned, floral perfume characteristic of the site. It trades the simple juiciness of many Geelong Pinots for a more compact and detailed profile.

Philip Rich awarded this 97+ points, making it the top-rated Pinot of this release. It carries notes of dark cherry and potpourri with a savoury, wild-herb complexity. It’s a serious, concentrated Pinot that manages to stay fresh, offering the kind of structural depth that suggests it will comfortably go the distance in the cellar.

97+ points
"This has real energy on the palate, which is compact and concentrated, yet light on its feet. The tannins are in perfect harmony with the fruit. Should develop beautifully over the next eight to 10 years."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

2025 Mulline Sutherlands Creek Pinot Noir

Sutherlands Creek is the warmest site in the Mulline Pinot lineup, but the soil - fragmented granite over grey loam - produces the lightest wine of the bunch. Winemaker Ben Mullen attributes this paradox entirely to the granite, which trades the region's typical weight for high-toned fragrance and a finer skeleton.

The 2025 release features a 30% whole-bunch component and spent eight months in French oak. Mullen uses the Abel clone here (famed for its supposed origins from DRC), which adds a savoury, structural edge to the bright red fruit. It’s a site that rewards Ben’s "feet on the ground" approach to value, offering the kind of complexity usually reserved for much more expensive labels.

Philip Rich awarded it 97 points, noting it is "beautifully fragrant from the get-go." While the 2024 was more wound upp, this vintage is open and silky, balancing brambly spice with a gentle, mouth-filling texture. It is a poised, mineral-driven Pinot that prioritises elegance over power.

97 points
"The palate is gently mouth-filling with silky tannins that make it a pleasure to drink now but will also ensure it continues to become more complex over the next five to seven years."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

2025 Mulline Barrabool Pinot Noir

We’ve followed Ben Mullen’s wines since his first release, and it’s been excellent watching just how quickly he’s shot to one of the top producers in the region. This Barrabool Pinot is one of the highest rated Pinots in VIC this year in the Halliday Wine Companion.

The fruit comes off Barwon Ridge, planted in 1999 on limestone and deep loam soils, 25% whole bunch in the ferment, older French oak - nothing to get in the way of the fruit.

It’s got brightness and spice. Red fruit, a bit of some structure for the cellar if you want to cellar. That said, you can drink it now and this is one of the best-value, premium Pinots coming out of Victoria right now.

We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: Ben Mullen is making some of the best vino in VIC right now. If you want to test his Pinot stylings, this is a great place to start.

96 points
"A bright, medium crimson ruby. Pure-fruited, with red and black fruits, subtle five-spice and florals. Medium bodied, with balanced, silky and persistent tannins."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

2025 Mulline Drysdale Pinot Noir

A tiny four-barrel parcel of MV6 Pinot Noir from the Leech Vineyard on the Bellarine Peninsula, this is another gem from Mulline’s 2025 single-site line-up.

Drysdale’s cool, coastal influence gives this wine its fine-boned structure and vibrant acidity, while the clone brings depth, spice and a lovely gentle grip. It’s a wine that dances between red fruit brightness and savoury complexity and is downright delicious from the  get-go.

Think wild strawberry, rhubarb, and a touch of autumnal spice. There’s a lovely sour cherry tang and a faint herbal note threading through the finish.

Elegant, subtle, and full of character, this is Mulline Pinot in its most restrained and poised expression. Only two barrels made so as always, blink and you’ll miss it.

96+ points
"The palate is concentrated and long without being heavy. The tannins are ripe and chewy. A beautifully crafted wine that will reward up to a decade in your cellar."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

2025 Mulline Modewarre Pinot Noir

The Modewarre vineyard is the coldest site in the Mulline stable, sitting on a unique geological mix of sandy loam and limestone marl. Because of the heavy maritime influence and the slow ripening on the Surf Coast, Ben Mullen is able to push the winemaking a bit further here. He has gone for an assertive whole-bunch inclusion - between 60% and 80%, depending on this parcel.

It’s light on its feet at just 12% alcohol, but it’s packed with detail. By fermenting four different Pinot clones separately, Mullen has built a layer of complexity that moves beyond simple fruit. The stems provide a structural grip and a spicy, forest-floor lift that works perfectly alongside the vineyard’s natural mineral streak.

This is arguably the most intellectual and savoury Pinot in the lineup. It’s not about primary sweetness; it's about the interplay of red berries, briny minerals, and fine-grained tannins. Polished by eight months in French oak, it remains a finely etched and expressive Pinot that highlights Ben's commitment to showcasing the huge diversity of Geelong's sub-regions.

96+ points
"A concentrated mouthful with dense, chewy tannins that ensure this will just keep getting better over the next six to eight years."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

Mulline Wines

Established in 2018 Mulline Vintners is a double dose of Bens, specifically winemaker Ben Mullen and business brain and wine drinker Ben Hine. Mullen has experience from around the globe, and was most recently winemaker at Clyde Park.

They source fruit from around the Geelong area of Victoria with a focus on Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, working with growers farming sustainably and organically. All steps of the winemaking operation are done with a major focus on looking after the environment.

Their first releases from the 2019 vintage were met with some acclaim - they are definitely young guns to watch out for.

To prevent embarrassment and to encourage rapping couplets... Mulline rhymes with “divine”.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
