Extremely Limited Chardonnays of "Riveting Intensity"...

Patrick Sullivan has undergone something of a metamorphosis over the last decade, from fun-times semi-natural-wine producer sinking sulphur-free vinos at Rootstock to now someone we consider one of the true masters of the Chardonnay grape in this country.

It's been a remarkable transformation to bare witness to.
Over the years, Patrick has sharpened his focus to (almost) a single variety grown on a singular terroir. He now only pursues Chardonnay grown exclusively on ancient volcanic soils in pockets around Victoria, primarily in his home of Gippsland. The tension, flinty minerality and textural drive that these volcanic soils impart on the Chardonnay grape are what gets Pat up in the morning.

"Invigorating acidity and riveting intensity..."
"Piercingly intense and focussed..."
"A chardonnay of character, depth and power."

Huon Hooke on the 2022 Patrick Sullivan Chardonnays

Sullivan's pursuit of Chardonnay nirvana has yielded a blistering set of wines this year, covering his beloved Gippsland vineyards and a parcel of fruit from the esteemed Lusatia Park vineyard in the Woori Yallock pocket of the Yarra Valley.

Huon Hooke recently assessed the 2022 releases and gave them rave reviews. The 2022 Ada River Chardonnay with 97 points is one of his highest-reviewed Chardonnays of the year.

Pat only made 200-250 cases of each of these cuvees so they are extremely limited. He also made a very small parcel of a fantastic Pinot Noir from Ada River vineyard which also received 95 points from Huon Hooke last week.

Tiny stocks are now available of these beautiful wines for a limited time.
