2018 Save Our Souls Sauvignon Blanc
This has to be one of the most interesting Aussie Sauvignon Blancs out there.
Deliciously juicy fruit was hand picked from Brown Brook Estate vineyard in the Yarra, and was pressed to tank straight away to retain all that freshness. It went through full malo, and aged on its lees for almost a full year.
It comes out as a dream of tropical fruit, soft herbal notes and a slight nuttiness, with savoury saline characters and a cutting acidity keeping it all in check.

If Pinot Gris/Grigio floats your boat, then this little number from Sam Scott should hit the spot.
It's Adelaide Hills fruit made in two stages. First, keep it fresh and bright with early picking and quick pressing avoiding any tannin or chew - pristine juice is the most important. Then with careful and clever winemaking, Sam weaves savoury elements throughout the wine with intentional use of oxygen and lees.
The final result is a wine that is both fresh and textural at the same time. It's Pinot Grigio built for drinking with food or without.

Pinot Gris/Grigio in Australia has its own unique connotation. While in Europe its simply the country of origin; French Gris, Italian Grigio, or German Grauburgunder, it has nothing to do with style.
In Australia, Grigio is more an indication of how the wine is made to be; crisp, clear and clean. And that’s exactly what you’re getting here with this wine from Mandi. Green and light, it’s a tart crisp white, with enough personality on the finish to keep it interesting.
Straight line kind of wine, you get what your after in a cool package, with great value.

It's not every day you see a crisp and crunchy organically grown dry white from Margaret River for this price.
This hits the brief square on the head. Vibrant tropical fruit flavours from the Sauv are tempered nicely by the zippy yet fleshy Chenin Blanc component. It's got a little waxy texture and fresh fruit and finishes dry and clean as a whistle. It's pretty great that Ben can get a wine to bottle at this price given the level of care and attention this fruit gets.
This is a little win for Dry White lovers everywhere.
2022 Wickhams Road Riesling
This is potentially the first and only-ever vintage of Riesling from the Hoddles Creek team, and it's a beauty.
The low-yielding 2022 vintage in the Yarra Valley put Franco D'Anna in search of some extra fruit. He's loved the Riesling from this vineyard for some time but never turned his hand to crafting it. His first attempted and he's kicked a huge goal.
This wine was seasoned in a single large foudre, lending a lovely textural framework to the wine - combining thrilling acidity and freshness with complexity and weight. For just $20, it's a remarkable buy.

After 20 years observing the area, Bruce Dukes decided all the Chardonnays from Domaine Naturaliste would be crafted entirely from the Gin Gin clone.
This is his best value, early drinking Chardonnay. A wine that seriously over delivers in the bang-for-your-buck stakes, it's built in a more fruit-forward style - ripe, but not too ripe, and balanced perfectly with a subtle hint of oak.
This is one of the best buys in all of Australian Chardonnay at the moment. You'd be mad not to.
