Perched on the banks of the picturesque d'Entrecasteaux Channel, the vineyard in now tended by Max, giving him complete control on the quality of fruit this site is yielding.

The single vineyard Pinot Noir from this site sees a little (only 20%) new oak and 50% whole bunches, which really build great scaffolding of structure around the sublime, ripe fruit.

2018 Small Island Saltwater River Pinot Noir

What began as a crowdfunding campaign has blossomed into an exciting small batch wine project for winemaker James Broinowski.

He is exploring all pockets of Tasmania to source fruit for his creations. And the early indicators are of something special.

Here he crafts a tiny batch of grapes from the Coal River Valley in the South of the island into a deft Pinot Noir with plenty of charisma. Its clarity of fruit is first class.

The structure and billowing aromatics show all the characteristics of the very best of Pinot Noir from Tasmania.

2021 Marco Lubiana Pinot Noir

This brilliant Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from the Stefano Lubiana vineyard in the Derwent Valley and the Lucille Vineyard in the Huon Valley.

It is hand crafted by Marco Lubiana every step of the way: hand picked, nursed to bottle with minimal influence from oak, bottled on the family estate - it's a wine made with intense consideration every step of the way. The end result is soft and elegant but still filled with structure and spice from the whole bunches used.

2021 Hughes & Hughes Milk Vat Pinot Noir

This ridiculously delicious Tassie Pinot is made by the Hughes brothers of Mewstone fame, only ever produced in tiny amounts.

They take fruit from a single vineyard in the North West of Tasmania, then ferment it as whole berries and a small portion of whole bunches in a milk vat for around 20 days. And what an excellent decision that turned out to be - the finished wine is fantastic.

The hits keep on coming from this Tasmanian duo. Their Pinot Noirs are full flavoured and spicy. Yet another top release that won't last long.
