Rich, creamy methode with a pleasing bone-dry finish.

About This Wine
Central Otago produces exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot, so it stands to reason that with proper winemaking, sparkling wines from the region would also have some pedigree.
Well... Quartz Reef certainly delivers on this premise in spades with this Pinot-dominant blend that exudes elegance and finesse. Lead by a bouquet of green apple, a touch of citrus and brioche, on the palate it becomes quite moreish wine, charged by a cool, creamy acidity.
Focused, cool and crisp with beautiful balance and length, this is an excellent regional offering full of individual character.
About Quartz Reef
Founded in 1996, Quartz Reef is the realisation of a vision to plant a breathtaking vineyard that would produce wines of outstanding flavour and intensity.
Based on the north-facing slopes of the Bendigo sub-region of Central Otago, the vineyard, certified biodynamic since 2011, is densely planted, with tiny yields per vine producing rich concentrated fruit.
Winemaker and co-founder Rudi Bauer came to New Zealand on a 6-month working holiday in the mid-1980’s, and as the story so often goes, fell in love with the country, the wine, and of course… a Kiwi lady. In the time since, he has become a multiple recipient of the New Zealand winemaker of the year award.
Quartz Reef is known for being a pioneering winery in New Zealand, leading the way in biodynamics, and producing world class estate-grown wines.
