2025 Mulline Sutherlands Creek Chardonnay

Sourced from the Strathmore vineyard in the warmer, drier pocket of Sutherlands Creek, this is Mulline’s more "generous" expression of Chardonnay. Planted in 1998 to the refined P58 clone, the site sits on a unique mix of loams and fragmented granite, which always seems to imbue the wine with a signature yellow stone fruit ripeness and a glassy texture.

Winemaker Ben Mullen handles this fruit with a light touch to ensure that its natural sunshine doesn't tip into heaviness. The juice was pressed whole-bunch with full solids into a mix of French and Austrian oak. To hit the sweet spot between richness and zip, about 30% of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. The result is a Chardonnay that balances plush, slightly more golden fruit with a refreshing crunch.

It’s an intense experience - think pear, peach, and nectarine layered with subtle cedar and a cool, oyster-shell minerality. While it’s tightly coiled, the nervy texture makes it incredibly moreish right now. It is a class act and now clearly the star vineyard for Chardonnay in the Mulline line up.

2025 Mulline Portarlington Chardonnay

The Portarlington Chardonnay is the coastal antithesis to the warmer Sutherlands Creek bottling. Sourced from the Nurringa Park Vineyard, the site sits just a kilometre from the water, overlooking Port Phillip Bay. The combination of limestone-rich soils and constant ocean breezes creates a cooler microclimate, which is reflected in the wine's naturally high acidity and lean profile.

Ben Mullen utilises specific clones here - originally planted for sparkling wine - which ensures the wine stays in a tightly wound, citrus-driven spectrum. The winemaking is intentionally hands-off to preserve this freshness. The fruit was whole-bunch pressed to oak with full solids and fermented in a cold room to slow the process down. While a small portion underwent malolactic fermentation to add a layer of texture, the wine remains focused on its mineral core.

The 2025 is a white-fruited Chardonnay with a distinct sea-spray salinity. It is more about tension and length than overt fruitiness, offering a chalky finish that persists well after the first sip. It was arguably our favourite release this year in the Mulline Chardonnay suite.

"Another restrained, complex and beautifully crafted chardonnay from Mulline in '25! Subtle aromas of stone fruits, fresh honey and a hint of matchstick precede the gentle, impeccably balanced and long palate."

2025 Mulline Barrabool Chardonnay

The 2025 vintage marks a debut for the Barrabool Chardonnay, a new addition to the Mulline single-site stable. The fruit is sourced from the Barwon Ridge vineyard in the Barrabool Hills, a site characterized by deep black loam over limestone. While the "Two Bens" have long been fans of the Syrah from this area, they’ve now turned their attention to the P58 Chardonnay clones planted here in 1999.

This is a more concentrated and powerful expression of Chardonnay compared to its siblings. With 50% new French oak and a modest 12% alcohol, it balances structural intensity with a lean, refreshing backbone. The limestone influence from the Barrabool Hills provides a firm mineral foundation, supporting the natural weight of the fruit.

Because this is a first-time release and produced in very small quantities, the wine is being kept close to home, available exclusively through the cellar door and in the Mulline Chardonnay Pack.

"he most immediate of the four single-vineyard chardonnays in '25. Aromas of ripe stone fruits and a touch of matchstick lead onto the generous but well-balanced palate. Drink now and over the next two to three years."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

2025 Mulline Modewarre Chardonnay

Previously a source for one of their best Pinot Noirs, the Brown Magpie vineyard in Modewarre yielded such exceptional Chardonnay in 2025 that it earned its first single-site bottling. This Surf Coast vineyard sits on a complex mix of sandy loam and limestone, producing a P58 clone expression that leans into the cooler, maritime influence of the Geelong coast.

To match the quality of the fruit, winemaker Ben Mullen opted for a more structural approach in the cellar. The wine underwent wild fermentation on full solids and 100% malolactic fermentation, followed by eight months in 50% new French oak. Despite this high-spec treatment, the wine maintains its poise, balancing textural richness with a sharp acidity.

The critical reception for this debut has been outstanding. Philip Rich described it as "tightly coiled and persistent" with "complex oyster-shell notes," while Campbell Mattinson highlighted the balance between its creamy texture and the "race of the wine’s acidity." This is a concentrated, sophisticated Chardonnay that marks a great new addition for the Mulline portfolio.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
