2020 Domaine Romy Beaujolais Vieilles Vignes Les Pierres Dorees
The Domaine Romy Beaujolais Vieilles Vignes Les Pierres Dorees comes from 50-year-old vines and offers fruity drinkabilty.
With 50% of the grapes destemmed and nine months of ageing on fine lees in tank, there is a real emphasis on fruity characters as well as mouthfeel with this wine. When handled properly, Gamay has the ability to express itself with red fruits like sour cherry, raspberry and strawberry, which are prominent here. There's also a touch of spice which adds some depth to the palate. Acidity is fresh while tannins are ripe and a bit grippy, adding some tension to the wine.
A lovely drop that really hits the spot.

If the Marcel Malbec from Chateau du Cedre is the lighter, softer side of Malbec, then the Heritage is its more serious, grown up brother.
Its dark colour gives you a little idea of what to expect within - blue and black berries, a bit of plumminess, firm tannin and a backbone of spice.
If you like your Malbecs big and ballsy, look no further. It'll give Argentinian Malbecs a run for their money.

If you've ever tried his Barossa Valley label, Woods Crampton, you'll know Nicholas Crampton knows how to get top value to the customer.
This is one of the best value Loire Valley reds you'll see on Australian shores.
Cabernet Franc is most likely the trendiest Bordeaux variety at the moment, with wine bars across the country looking for juicy, approachable versions to populate their wine lists. This new offering from Crampton is sure to find its way onto many of them.
It's Loire Cab Franc in silky, brightly-fruited mode. It's juicy, shows all the signature leafy notes and ripe purple berries and currants. The perfect easy-drinking mid-week red that will give you a touch of French charm.

The world is full of under-appreciated regions and varieties. The best thing about them is that they can offer utterly amazing value and interest.
This is a great example. The relative obscurity of both the region and the grape makes this an utter bargain. Medium bodied, with fleshy sour cherries and plum, dusty spices and a good whack of cocoa powder, all held with a lean and racy acidity.
It's a wine which doesn't take itself too seriously - light and approachable, with an ease of drinking which cannot be matched.

Sisters Marie and Sylvie Courselle craft wine from grapes grown on their historic family vineyard 25km outside of Bordeaux, in the Entre-deux-Mers region.
Rebels with a winemaking cause, they eschew tradition, planting Syrah (a.k.a. Shiraz)—cue the gasps of dispair from the old-school Bordelaise crowd! They blend this black sheep grape with the more local favourites of Cabernet Franc and Merlot to make one super smashable wine.
In another spurning of tradition, they use no oak in making this wine, giving it only some brief ageing in cement tanks.

Great value Cotes du Rhone from the organic vineyards of Domaine du Seminaire in the east of the Rhone, on the way to Alps.
It's a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Carignan. It's open, warm and ready to drink. There's the signature richness of the region, tempered with a little more restraint from the cooler site where this family resides.
Value for money wise, this is a cracking all-rounder red, and fully organic to boot.
