2018 Hoddles Creek 1er Yarra Valley Pinot Noir
Now firmly ensconced as one of the Yarra Valley's most collectable Pinot Noirs, the 1er from Hoddles Creek never disappoints.
This immaculate vineyard in the Upper Yarra produces some of the region's finest fruit. Winemaker Franco D'Anna only releases it in the best vintages. With the 2018 release, he thinks he has made one of their best to date.
The 2018 is long and exceptionally well balanced. Lower yields and increased demand will mean that this will be only available for a limited time.
A wine of remarkable value and world class quality - if you're a lover of Pinot Noir then this is a must buy. This is Australian Pinot Noir at its very best.Read more about 2018 Hoddles Creek 1er Yarra Valley Pinot Noir
2019 Ochota Barrels Fugazi Grenache
Taras Ochota's wines have an air of rebellion about them - constantly challenging the status quo. He combines hands-off winemaking with a meticulous attention to detail and has been creating some of South Australia’s most interesting wines of the last few years.
His Fugazi Grenache is a wine that was ahead of its time. It set the tone for a more elegant, pure-fruited, medium-bodied style of McLaren Vale Grenache which is definitely in vogue at the moment.
The 2019 release is a richer version of this wine, but one that maintains its sense of youth and vitality.
A Grenache with a pure heart and a rock and roll soul.Read more about 2019 Ochota Barrels Fugazi Grenache
2018 L.A.S. Vino Pirate Blend
The Pirate Blend. Now this is a wine with a lot of personality and something very different from your average Margaret River blend.
It is comprised of three Portuguese native varieties inspired by Nic's time making wines in Portugal: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao and Sousao, all three of these characters offer something a little different to the party.
The bottle looks like it has just been brought up from below deck and the wine itself feels raw and untamed, but underneath it all is some serious winemaking and a clear vision which has been realised brilliantly by Peterkin.

2017 Luke Lambert Nebbiolo
This wine is always the most anticipated release from the remarkably talented and enigmatic Luke Lambert.
And it's no wonder; this is regarded as a benchmark for Australian Nebbiolo. From a single site on unique granite soils in the Yarra Valley, this is quite simply one of the finest examples of this variety you will find anywhere in Aus.
It's made with traditional methodology: wild ferment, extended time on skins (20 days) and maturation in a combination of 2000L foudre and old Slovonian and French oak.
With a glowing 95 point review from The Wine Front's Gary Walsh and his comments that this is "A magnificent expression of Nebbiolo.", this is looking like one of his finest releases to date.
Unfortunately, he only makes this wine in miniscule amounts. Allocations are extremely limited.Read more about 2017 Luke Lambert Nebbiolo
2017 Mount Mary Reflexion Cabernet Franc
The Reflexion wines of Mount Mary aren't made every year. On occasion it's a label that houses declassified fruit, however here it stands as a home for an interesting stand alone wine from the 2017 vintage.
This Cabernet Franc is from younger vines as part of the rootstock replanting project underway at Mount Mary. The fruit was earmarked for Quintet but winemaker Sam Middleton felt it didn't quite fit and he liked it just on its own.
There's a splash of Merlot in the final blend for a little more flesh, but what you get in the end is an extrodinarily aromatic, vibrant example of Franc which is appealing from the get go. Drink this while you wait for Quintet to mature, would be our suggestion.Read more about 2017 Mount Mary Reflexion Cabernet Franc
2018 Dappled Single Vineyard Fin de la Terre Shiraz
"Fin de La Terre" translates to "The End of the Earth" - winemaker Shaun Crinion says it takes so long to drive to this vineyard during vintage feels like you're about to reach the edges of our planet.
The drive is worth it. The Shiraz fruit that comes from this Steels Creek vineyard is stunning.
The 2018 vintage was fermented as 100% whole bunches, Shaun thinks the combination of sweet fruit generated from cab mac (carbonic maceration or whole berry ferment) needs the spice and architecture that the stalks provide to be a well balanced wine.
This is a beautiful, elegant representation of Yarra Syrah.Read more about 2018 Dappled Single Vineyard Fin de la Terre Shiraz
