If you want to experience the best Chardonnay Australia has to offer, then this pack is where it’s at.
The included wines come from six of Australia's most esteemed producers of Chardonnay. These wines mostly sell out on release each year, but we’ve squirrelled away a few precious bottles for the sake of this mixed pack.
This is without question the best mixed pack of Chardonnay you will find in this country. With only a handful of packs available, get in and add these rare gems to your collection while you can.
Vat 47 is an important piece of Australian wine history. First released in 1971, it was the country’s first commercial Chardonnay, and it’s still setting the standard more than 50 years on. The 2023 continues that legacy with classic Hunter Valley richness, precision and quiet confidence.
Made entirely from estate-grown fruit, much of it off old vines on the HVD and Short Flat blocks, it’s fermented and matured in French oak with a focus on texture and balance rather than overt oak flavour. The result is a full-bodied Chardonnay with depth and generosity, but also freshness and structure to carry it.
This is a wine that consistently over-delivers - drinking beautifully young, but with a strong track record in the cellar. A proper modern Hunter Chardonnay that nods to its roots without being stuck in them.

"Lemony fruit is intense... expansive, textural and deeply satisfying... finishing with remarkable purity, energy and deliciousness."

"Struck match, green pear and apple, nougat/almond, lime zest... fine chalky grip, long with green olive and lemon peel."
- Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
Bass Phillip is a renowned Australian Chardonnay producer, whose white wines, funnily enough, have historically been overshadowed by their Pinots. But make no mistake, their Premium Chardonnay is among the country's classiest and most cellarworthy examples.
The 2023 release comes from a small block of the original 1979 planting, farmed organically and biodynamically. It’s a cooler season wine, and that comes through in its shape and feel: citrus and white stone fruit lead the way, with some almond meal and a savoury edge adding depth.
The oak is tucked in, the texture is firm, and there’s a clean line of acidity that carries it along an impossibly long finish. The savouriness and 'old world' stylings that this wine is noted for still there in spades. It’ll take a few years to show its best, but it’s already a brilliant glass of Chardonnay.

"It presents as oxidatively made style, a bit outside the Australian mainstream, more like a Burgundy. The palate has wonderful richness and depth of flavour. Truly impressive."
- Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

"Always a gold hue to the Premium, albeit bright and light. Complex and detailed, savoury in outlook... There’s a slight oxidative note within, adding another layer of detail. Impressive. Distinctly Bass Phillip."
- Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)
This is arguably Australia's most iconic Chardonnay. For decades, this Margaret River legend has been in a league of its own - a Grand Cru of the Southern Hemisphere, capable of standing alongside the world’s finest white wines. The 2022 release continues that legacy, delivering power, complexity, and seamless balance.
The fruit is hand-harvested, cooled, and partially whole-bunch pressed before undergoing 100% barrel fermentation in new French oak. Regular lees stirring builds texture and depth, and after 11 months in barrel, the wine is blended and bottled without compromise.
The nose is intense and layered - nashi pear, finger lime, and lemon curd, lifted by white florals, brioche, and sesame praline. The palate is pure and precise, unfolding with waves of nectarine, white peach, and citrus zest, laced with graphite minerality, gentle spice, and a fine chalky finish. The acidity is vibrant yet refined, giving the wine tension, length, and serious ageing potential.
A benchmark Australian Chardonnay that needs no introduction - drink now or watch it evolve over the next 15+ years.

"If you were sitting quietly in a corner, contemplating the vicissitudes of life, and a glass of this exceptional chardonnay came your way, well, all would be very well indeed. And you’d perk up... It seems powerful and explosive with its acidity, drive and energy yet manages to remain classy and complex."
- Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

"Toasted nuts, yellow fruits, and exotic spices with a seamless oak integration. Powerful and statuesque, this Chardonnay is one to collect, though decanting is recommended for immediate enjoyment."
- Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)
The Cullen Kevin John Chardonnay sits comfortably amongst the pantheon of Margaret River's finest Chardonnays.
Vanya Cullen's unrelenting quest for winemaking excellence is beautifully realised in this ode to her late father, Dr. Kevin John Cullen. The man's passion for Margaret River Chardonnay was legendary and this wine surely does him proud.
The fruit is hand picked exclusively on fruit days (the days of the biodynamic cycle which optimise fruit flavour) from the immaculate four decade old vineyard tended by the Cullen family. This is a wine of immense power and precision and stands as a constant reminder of the potential of Australian Chardonnay. The Cullen Kevin John sits at the apex of Australian Chardonnay and would make a fine addition to any serious cellar.

"Always one of our greatest Chardonnays, not just a great Margaret River Chardonnay... A wine of precision, this is poised and taut, long and lingering, with notes of oatmeal on the palate. Leave it for a couple of years and it will be very special."
- Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)

"Grapefruit and white peach, cedar/caramel oak spices and a light fragrance of lemon blossom. Not all upfront fruit; there’s a savouriness throughout, a fine layer of nougat/nutty lees and a tug of phenolics that adds more shape."
- Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)
Keppell Smith first laid eyes on what would become the Savaterre vineyard back in 1996, a granite-rich slope on Beechworth’s legendary “Golden Mile”. Since then, his Chardonnays have carved out a place among the most profound in the country - complex, long-lived, and completely world-class.
The 2023 release follows the brilliant 2022, and while it brings the same depth and power, this vintage shows even greater restraint and detail. Long, warm days and cool nights allowed for a slow, graceful ripening, and the result is a tightly coiled, age-worthy wine of precision and poise. “These are the years for finesse and precision,” says Keppell. “It’s a serious, cerebral wine of great focus.” There’s real intensity here, but it’s harnessed by structure, tension and clarity.
In the glass: straw yellow with silvery flecks. Aromatically, it’s a study in quiet confidence - lime blossom, white nectarine, beeswax and sandalwood, with flickers of hazelnut and pink grapefruit. The palate is all structure and line, with incredible drive, length, and a whisper of old-world charm. Decant if drinking young - this wine will continue to build and evolve over two decades.
One of Australia’s great Chardonnays, from one of the most detail-obsessed producers in the game.

"There’s some almond creaminess in the mix too. It’s finer and less flavour packed than some of the prior vintages, but gee I love its delicacy. Superb."
- Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
The famed Giaconda Chardonnay is one of the great wines of Australia.
Grown by the iconic Rick Kinzbrunner on the hallowed slopes on the outskirts of Beechworth township, this wine has carved out a unique place for itself in Australian wine.
Notable for its extraordinary power and ageing potential, it has long been held up as a bastion of quality Australian Chardonnay to the rest of the world. It is made in limited amounts and sells out without fail each and every year.
Always a hotly anticipated release. Allocations are extremely limited. If you want it for your cellar, you'll have to act quick.

"The 2023 only gets better the longer it is opened... Far from pinching the finish, the reduction provokes a physical response, one that requires more drinking to satiate."
- Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

"I can’t always say Giaconda has inherent drinkabilty early on, but this wine kind of does, and in that way, it’s probably my favourite release to date. It has great bone structure and cool vintage complexity. Of course it will cellar so well. It would drink well, I think, with a rabbit pulled out of a hat."
