Description
The first vines on Bindi vineyard were planted in 1988 by vigneron Michael Dhillon and his father Bill. The family farm, purchased in the 1950s in the Macedon Ranges, today plays home to some of the country's most precious Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines.
A deep connection to family and place underpins everything that vigneron Michael Dhillon does. His fastidious vineyard management and precision in the winery has seen his label rise over the years as some of the leading examples of Australian Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, setting a new benchmark for all Australian producers to strive for.
The wines of Bindi have been heralded the world over for their rare power and clarity. They now find pride of place in some of the world's most discerning cellars. These are collectable, cellar-worthy wines that showcase the unique character of one of Australia's great vineyard sites.
The Pack Features
2021 Bindi Quartz Chardonnay
If you made a list of the top ten Australian Chardonnays year-in, year-out, the Bindi Quartz Chardonnay would surely be one of the mainstays.
It's a unique site that creates this wine. A quartz-riddled half-hectare block at the top of the Bindi Chardonnay plantings. The wine typically sees around 35% new oak and the fruit absolutely soaks it up.
This wine embodies all the power and finesse that is possible in Chardonnay, and typically shows its best with 4-5 years in bottle if you have the patience.
If you are to drink it young, a good stint in the decanter and not too cool is the recommendation.
2022 Dhillon Col Mountain Grenache Rose
'Dhillon' is Michael Dhillon (Bindi) playing away from home. This delicate and delicious rose is crafted from Heathcote Grenache, more specifically the Col Mountain in the cool Mt Camel ranges.
Subtly fragrant with wild strawberry, unripe stone-fruit and a touch of smoky spice. The palate, aided by some oak ageing on its yeast lees, is layered and penetrative and full of life.
If it's your first encounter with a Dhillon rose, trust us - it's as good as you would imagine.
2021 Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir
Bindi has become one of the Macedon Ranges' most iconic wineries since it's first plantings took root in 1988.
The Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir is sourced exclusively from the '88 plantings. It's a wine of intensity and savoury structure, the long ripening time in the region giving the fruit an immense depth of flavour and silky texture which has been captured beautifully in the bottle by winemaker Michael Dhillon.
It unfurls beautifully in the glass to reveal a kaleidoscope of Pinot Noir flavours, from dusty, earthen tones, to sweet red fruit. It's one of the region's and the country's finest Pinot Noirs, no doubt about it.
2020 Bindi Kaye Pinot Noir
This small-batch Pinot Noir comes from the most elevated Pinot Noir planting on the Bindi vineyard.
These vines were planted in 2001 on a quartz-riddled plot just below the Mount Gisborne lava flow. This particular site yields wines that are tightly wound with exceptional tension and structure. As such, Dhillon holds this back for an extended period before release.
A fitting tribute to Kaye Dhillon (King), a woman who Michael says was a, "humanist and nurturer of the people and land at Bindi."
This wine is only ever released in small quantities. With the rush for the small batch releases made by Dhillon's hand, this won't be available for long.
2016 Dhillon Col Mountain Shiraz
'Dhillon' is Michael Dhillon (Bindi) playing away from his Macedon home. This earthy and structured Shiraz comes from Heathcote, more specifically the Col Mountain in the cool Mt Camel ranges - this is a different fruit source to his well-known Pyrette wines.
The nose has the exotic spice and roasted meat aromatics of the best of the Rhone. The palate is intense, spicy, earthy and layered. It may have been imposing in its youth but with six years bottle age it is tender tannin, a gentle caress not a sandpaper scrape.
Up there already as one of Victoria's most interesting Shiraz.
2021 Bindi Pyrette Heathcote Shiraz
The Bindi Pyrette Shiraz sees winemaker Michael Dhillon venture farther afield than his home estate in Macedon Ranges.
Here, Michael takes on Heathcote Shiraz, as his family has done for over a decade. The vineyard was selected for its prime position and the deft hands that tend it. It's situated high in the Mount Camel Range, grown on the famous rocky Cambrian soils the region is known for.
Picked at precisely the point where freshness meets flavour, this is a lovely example of Shiraz from this part of the world. Only a small percentage of the fruit is matured in new French oak, this wine is about showcasing a pure, aromatic style of Syrah that doesn't shy away from the typical regional richness.
A powerful wine whilst showing still showing restraint, this is a fine version Pyrenees Shiraz made by an astute mind.

Ordering
We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.
Some things to keep in mind:
- Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
- The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
- We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
- We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
- It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
- It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.
We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.
At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!
No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.
We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.
To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.
If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.
If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
