Description

Julian Langworthy is known in certain circles as the 'King of Pink'.

The man crafts an ungodly amount of top shelf Rose in his day job as chief winemaker at Deep Woods. For his Nocturne label, he's looking for a slightly more savoury and structural style of pink.

This is mostly Sangiovese, with small amounts of Tempranillo and Grenache, picked specifically for Rose and turned into a vibrant, textural, highly gluggable wine. It's ready to slake your thirst whenever you get the craving.

The advantage of making Rose from these varieties is that they come with plenty of tannin and crisp acidity, by using some lees time and a little barrel work, Julian can pack some flesh on those bones. Dry, savoury, and wonderfully fragrant, this is sure to be a favourite.

”In a decade, Julian Langworthy’s Nocturne has cemented itself as one of Margaret River’s finest names.”
- Halliday Wine Companion

2026: WOW …… THE VERY REVERED JACK MANN, THE GODFATHER OF WEST AUSTRALIAN WINEMAKING SAID THAT MARGARET RIVER IS THE ONLY REGION IN AUSTRALIA THAT CAN HAVE 99 GREAT VINTAGES A CENTURY. WELL, THIS ONE IS PRETTY SPECIAL, ONE OUT OF THE BOX PERHAPS. OF THOSE 99 VINTAGES IS IT MY FAVOURITE EVER, TIME WILL TELL. EPIC WINES AND ALL, BUT I LOVE THIS ROSÉ. PALE SALMON DREAMS ARE MADE OF THESE, WHO ARE YOU TO DISAGREE? I FOLLOW THE WORLD AND THE SEVEN SEAS EVERYONE IS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO LOVE…

AUSSIE ROSÉ IS JUST GROUSE. AND IN THIS MOST AUSTRALIAN OF AFFIRMATIONS, I’M IMPLYING THAT YOU SHOULD ALL STOP BUYING SHITE PROVENÇAL OLD ROSÉ THAT TASTES LIKE DISAPPOINTMENT. YES, WE’VE ALL BEEN ON HOLIDAY TO ST TROPEZ AND CHECKED OUT A LAVENDER FIELD, BUT PLEASE JUST DON’T DRINK THREE-YEAR-OLD AIX THAT’S BEEN SITTING ON A DOCK IN SINGAPORE FOR SIX MONTHS GETTING MORE COOKED THAN IT ALREADY WAS AND ACT LIKE YER CLASSY. TEMPIER IS COOL; THREE-YEAR-OLD, 18-BUCKS-BY-THE-GLASS ROSÉ MADE FROM GRENACHE IS NOT. WE MAKE SOME OF THE BEST ROSÉ IN THE WORLD RIGHT HERE. YOU KNOW IT. I KNOW ROSÉ HAS AN ELEMENT OF FASHION; IT’S WHAT MAKES IT COOL. JUST DON’T BECOME A CLICHÉ IN YOUR CHOICES.

2026 SR ROSÉ IS COOL AND COMPLEX AND GROUSE. MEDIUM WEIGHTED AND EXPRESSIVE BUT WITH SUPPLENESS AND FRESHNESS THAT IS JUST RIGHT, GREAT FRUIT WEIGHT WHILE REMAINING ETHEREALLY FINE. 70% TEMPRANILLO IS A CHANGE HERE AND IN THIS INSTANCE WE HAVE 30% AMPHORA FERMENTED SANGIOVESE WITH A COUPLE OF BARRELS THROWN IN FOR GOOD MEASURE.

SOURCED FROM A NEW VINEYARD THIS YEAR…. FORCED UPON ME DUE TO THE WINDS OF CHANGE IN THE WINE INDUSTRY. I LOVE TO WORK OVER A PERIOD OF TIME WITH A VINEYARD, IT’S LIKE GETTING TO KNOW A PERSON, ALL VINEYARDS HAVE THEIR OWN DNA BUT TO CHANGE IS TO IMPROVE AND WHEN CHANGE IS FORCED UPON YOU SPREAD YOUR ARMS AND WELCOME IT HOME. IT’S STILL FROM THE SUB-REGION OF CARBUNUP IN MARGARET RIVER, WITH THE SITES BEING RELATIVELY FLAT AND WARM, WITH FERTILE, RED SANDY SOILS. THE FRUIT WAS HARVESTED ON 23RD OF FEBRUARY, RELATIVELY EARLY IN THE SCHEME OF THINGS. THE TEMPRANILLO WAS SIMPLY DESTEMMED, CHILLED AND PRESSED, USING ONLY THE FREE-RUN FRACTION OF THE JUICE. ADDITIONALLY, THIS CLOUDY, FULL-SOLIDS JUICE WAS HELD COLD FOR A FURTHER 18 DAYS. MIXING IT EVERY SECOND DAY TO ADD MORE TEXTURE AND FLAVOUR BASE. IT WAS THEN FERMENTED AT MODERATE TEMPERATURES, USING, AS ALWAYS, INDIGENOUS YEASTS ONLY. IT WAS THEN MATURED ON GROSS LEES FOR THREE MONTHS POST-FERMENTATION TO ADD ADDITIONAL TEXTURE.

THE SANGIOVESE WAS HANDPICKED, AND AFTER CHILLING, THE FRUIT WAS PRESSED AS WHOLE BUNCHES DIRECTLY TO MY NEW AMPHORA (GIANT FLOWER POT), I SHOULD CHANGE THE NAME TO HIPSTER PISS. FERMENTATION TOOK CLOSE TO THREE WEEKS, AND THE WINE RECEIVED A FURTHER 12 WEEKS OF MATURATION. AT THIS STAGE, THE FINAL BLEND BETWEEN TEMPRANILLO AND SANGIOVESE WAS DECIDED, AND THE WINE WAS EMPTIED FROM TANK/AMPHORA/BARREL, SETTLED, FILTERED, SULPHURED AND BOTTLED ON 30TH JUNE.

THIS WINE’S TEXTURE AND ACID STRUCTURE ARE IMPECCABLE, BUT IT’S ALL ABOUT EXTREME DRINKABILITY. ROSÉ: IT’S A DRINK FOR THE PEOPLE; ENJOY IT ON THE BEACH, ENJOY IT WITH FOOD, ENJOY IT WITH ICE. WHATEVER. THERE ARE NO RULES. DARE TO DREAM.

GET OUT THE LINEN, FIND SOMEONE WHO OWNS A BIKINI OR, BETTER YET, A SUPER YACHT AND GET AMONGST IT. AS ALWAYS, IT’S A PALE SALMON DREAM.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
