Description

If Polish Hill is Grosset's more austere and focused Riesling, Springvale is its more openly generous counterpart. Sourced from the Watervale sub-region, the vineyard is now 25 years old and has revealed something unexpected over time.

The site was chosen for its thin red loam over limestone, a typical Watervale profile. But as the vines aged and their roots pushed deeper, they reached ancient slate bedrock beneath. That discovery changed the story of Springvale, and the wines have reflected it.

The 2026 is hand harvested, free run juice only. Biodynamically farmed, unfined. Lime blossom, lemon and lime citrus on the nose, with a minerality that speaks to those slate roots. The palate brings characteristic Watervale brightness and generosity, with structure and persistence to the finish that makes it a serious proposition for the cellar.

It's the more approachable of Grosset's two Rieslings, but gee whiz it's a serious beast in 2026 and right up there with its older brother. A stunning Springvale release.

"Deliciousness abounds. All of this with a quiet power, a grace, and exceptional length. In essence, it delivers on the promise of quality while nailing down drinkability. "

"Quite juicy, but there’s also a light chalky grip here… It’s a delicious wine"

"The wine is very delicate and restrained, subtle and refined, the balance properly dry and the finish crisp and long"

96 points - "This is peak and pitch-perfect Grosset Springvale. Tension meets an approachable juiciness. It's redolent of all the citrus fruits, from yellow to green to orange, with green apple and blackcurrant leaf. The flavours are similarly set, with a chalky minerality chiming in. Deliciousness abounds. All of this with a quiet power, a grace, and exceptional length. In essence, it delivers on the promise of quality while nailing down drinkability. Something to strive for. 96+" - Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "Lime, white flowers, cut fennel, green cardamom, a light spicy note. Quite juicy, but there’s also a light chalky grip here, white pepper and apple cucumber coolness, lime rind, a little quinine bite and perfume on a finish of excellent length. It’s a delicious wine, and quite approachable now for my tastes, though of course it will age surely too." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

95 points - "Light bright yellow; creamy yeasty aromas coupled with custard apple and lemon blossom nuances. The wine is very delicate and restrained, subtle and refined, the balance properly dry and the finish crisp and long, with a tickle of tannin adding grip and texture. Good ageing potential but already drinks well." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

Customer Reviews

Riesling grown biodynamically at Grosset Springvale Vineyard (Watervale sub-region), established in 2001 (25 years old).

Hand harvested, free run juice, with no fining. This site has been a surprise. It was chosen as a typical, if cooler, Watervale site – thin red loam over limestone. Only years later did the vines’ roots reach ancient slate bedrock beneath; a possible explanation for the minerality evident in recent releases.

Lifted, elegant intensity with quintessential Watervale character – lime blossom, lemon and lime citrus, with minerality most likely from roots reaching slate. Balanced lime pith and brightness deliver structure, carrying to a persistent finish. Biodynamic farming nurtured near-oasis conditions, delivering grapes from limestone and slate. The result: generosity and elegance.

Unfined – vegan and vegetarian friendly

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
