Description

Thirty years in the ground, and the Polish Hill Vineyard is still the site that sets the standard for Australian Riesling. Hard rock slate in the Polish Hill River sub-region of Clare Valley, biodynamically farmed since establishment in 1996, this is a vineyard that demands patience and delivers intensity in return.

The site has always required hand-working. Low yields, unyielding soils, vines that have learned over decades to push deep and express the geology beneath them. The result is a wine with a character that no other site in Australia quite replicates.

The 2026 is hand harvested, free run juice only. Unfined, and suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Lifted lime blossom and the unmistakable smell of slate on the nose. The palate is bone-dry and chalky, with intense lime driving through the mid-palate and citrus complexity threading all the way to a persistent, clean finish. Real power here, balanced by the precision and finesse the vineyard is known for.

Drink now for its brightness and drive, or cellar it up to 25 years. Jeff Grosset's own view? "As long as you like."

"This is a fantastic expression of Polish Hill… So sleek, trim and superiorly long and fine boned. It's got intensity and energy to burn. And it's so very thirst-quenching and refreshing."

"A classic vintage for this wine. Cool but perfectly formed."
- Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

96+ points - "This is a fantastic expression of Polish Hill. It's very, very minerally, almost an alpine-river kind of feel, with wet slate, some aniseed, dashes of lime rind, pleasingly bitter green apple notes, wet fern and succulent pink grapefruit and talc through the finish. The perfume is a quiet cavalcade of jasmine florals, citrus fruit and alpine herbs. So sleek, trim and superiorly long and fine boned. It's got intensity and energy to burn. And it's so very thirst-quenching and refreshing." - Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

96 points - "Pink grapefruit, fresh lime, aniseed, thyme and assorted herbs, with something of a violet and lavender perfume. This is very stony and strict, a little grainy grip, light but intense with lime zest and perfume on a tight quinine-laced finish of excellent length. A classic vintage for this wine. Cool but perfectly formed." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

93 points - "Light, bright lemon yellow colour with aromas of lemon pith, verbena, nettle and dried herbs, the palate intense and firmly drying, with excellent persistence and a clean, superbly harmonious and dry finish that rolls on and on. This is a baby that has great potential and begs for time. Cellar!" - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

Riesling grown biodynamically at Grosset Polish Hill Vineyard (Polish Hill River sub-region), established in 1996 (30 years old).

Hand harvested, free run juice, with no fining. Planted on unyielding hard rock (slate), the site has always demanded hand-working and patience to match. The vines have responded by becoming more resilient and the grapes more expressive, both evident in this release.

Wonderfully aromatic and intensely fragrant with lifted lime blossom and the smell of slate. Full-throttle power meets the vineyard’s finesse. Intense lime drives the mid-palate with precision, supported by chalky minerality and bone-dry structure. Persistent length reveals citrus complexity. Bright, captivating in youth, yet balanced with backbone to age gracefully.

Cellar? ‘As long as you like’ says Jeff – up to 25 years, or drink now.

Unfined – vegan and vegetarian friendly

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
