Description

”There is serious history and intent behind these wines, but we didn’t want the range itself to feel too serious.”
- Sarah Crowe (Warramate Winemaker)

With a packaging refresh and renewed vigour with the winemaking, Warramate has hit the ground running with this latest release. This Chardy nfrom just up the hill is another tip-top Yarra wine from Sarah Crowe and team and, as with all the Warramate wines, terrific value.

Hand-picked fruit from four Chardonnay clones was whole-bunch pressed, with some pressings retained for extra weight and grip. Nine months in French oak, mostly older barrels, adds complexity without dominating the wine.

Peach and pear come with preserved lemon, a little beeswax and gentle cedar. It’s generous through the middle, with fresh acidity and a savoury, lightly grippy finish. Just gorgeously pure and easy to drink - Yarra Chardy 101.

A well-priced Yarra Chardonnay with experienced hands behind it.

"With its gentle fleshiness, this builds nicely through the mid-palate. Finishes with a touch of grip, rounding off a very keenly priced wine."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

93+ points
"It’s fluid, refreshing, flavoursome and stylish, with an impression of balance that borders on the exquisite."
- Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

95 points - "No mlf and about 20% new wood. First things first, I love the new label by Marina Strocchi that was commissioned by Yarra Yering. A bright green gold. Aromas of just-ripened stone fruits, a hint of vanilla pod and a little orange blossom. With its gentle fleshiness, this builds nicely through the mid-palate. Finishes with a touch of grip, rounding off a very keenly priced wine." - Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

93+ points - "Ducks are in a row here. Beautiful wine, well priced, perfectly packaged. Pear, peach, brine, integrated cedar and a tonic water notes. It’s fluid, refreshing, flavoursome and stylish, with an impression of balance that borders on the exquisite." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

92 points - "Deep, youthful red-purple with a classic cabernet nose of cassis, mulberry, crushed leaf and cedar, absolutely textbook cab with medium-full body, intensity and drive, plenty of concentration but also elegance, the line and length are impeccable and it drinks well now but surely has a big future if cellared. Very elegant and very cabernet." - Aaron Brasher (The Real Review)

Customer Reviews

VINES

Drawn from selected blocks across the vineyard and blended from clones 95, P58, 124 and 548. Each contributes its own character, bringing together aromatic complexity and balance.

WINEmaking

Hand picked and gently whole bunch pressed to capture purity and freshness, with selected pressings retained to add texture, weight and subtle phenolic grip. Fermentation on light solids builds complexity and palate depth, before nine months maturation in French oak barrels, including 10% new oak. The result is a layered and refined Chardonnay, balancing energy, texture and detail.

WINE

Lemon balm, beeswax and stone fruit aromas lead into a generous palate layered with preserved lemon freshness and subtle oak complexity. Richly textured yet vibrant, the oak remains quietly supportive, adding depth without overshadowing the fruit. Savoury detail and gentle grip carry through a long, balanced finish, that invites another glass and rewards time at the table.

cellaring

Drinking beautifully now, with the structure and balance to reward careful cellaring for up to five years.

Founded in 1969 by the visionary vigneron Dr. Bailey Carrodous, Yarra Yering has become a benchmark in quality and one of the most collected wineries in the country.

Today, the wines are crafted by the talented Sarah Crowe. She brings the wines to bottle with the same passion and attention to detail that made the great Yarra Yering wines of old so revered.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
