Description

The vineyard overhaul Julian Grounds and the crew put in at Stonier is paying massive dividends here. They’ve spent the last couple of years nursing the original 1982 plantings back to peak health, and this release shows they are right back at the top tier of Peninsula Pinot. It pulls together the best fruit from the Windmill, Stonier Family, and KBS sites, and it’s an absolute powerhouse of a Pinot.

What makes this special is the architectural structure. The fruit profile is dark and moody - think macerated black cherries and late-season plums - but it’s the non-fruit elements that dominate. You get heaps of leaf, woodsmoke, and a savory pepper character too.

The pallet is unforced and fleshy, backed by a buoyant line of freshness that keeps everything upright. It’s a serious, long-term prospect that really needs a few years in the dark to hit its stride.

"This is a pretty special wine. I mean, wow. The tannin structure and the underlying, undergrowth-driven complexity are the bomb... This wine is not for opening now, it needs time, but its quality is fundamentally elite."
- Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

97 points - "Made from the original plantings from ’82 with a lot of vineyard work latterly to get these old vines back into optimum condition. It’s starting to show. There’s a density here without it being a weighty wine, with exceptional tannin structure the key. Aromas and flavours marry well. The palate is supple and plush, with the acidity juicy and buoyant. Bravo." - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

96 points - "This is a pretty special wine. I mean, wow. The tannin structure and the underlying, undergrowth-driven complexity are the bomb. It’s all driven by fresh, ripe, cherry-plum fruit but the rounds of pepper-and-leaf savouriness come in layers and the finish really does set sail for history. this wine is not for opening now, it needs time, but its quality is fundamentally elite." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
