Description

Matt Large started Praeter to explore Nebbiolo in Australian vineyards, and Eternal Rhythm brings that pursuit to a site with a significant history. His first release from Talc Hill draws on the former Arrivo vineyard, a planting that helped establish the Adelaide Hills’ credentials for the variety.

Seven Nebbiolo clones, including some rarely found elsewhere in Australia, grow on a steep north- to northwest-facing slope at 450–480 metres. Shallow loam over limestone and quartz makes this a distinctive site for Matt to get to know.

The fruit was fully destemmed and fermented with wild yeasts, with pumpovers used throughout its 24 days on skins. Seasoned, large-format oak and eleven months on fine lees followed, before bottling without fining or filtration.

Floral notes and sweet spice sit alongside the fruit, with subtle earthy, leafy characters adding a savoury dimension. Rated 93 points by The Wine Front, its appeal lies in the fine tannin structure and persistent finish: a thoughtfully made Nebbiolo from an important Australian planting.

93 points - "Grown on the Talc Hill Vineyard, at 450-480m asl, in the Adelaide Hills. This isn’t just any old vineyard – not that there’s really any such thing. The Talc Hill vineyard is the old Arrivo Vineyard which, for a short time, was considered among the best nebbiolo vineyards in the country. In my mind at least, I had it top for a year or two. Anyway, 100% destemmed, gravity to an open fermenter, fermented wild, 24 days on skins, racked to old large-format oak. Beautiful tannin, enough fruit, floral highlights, plenty of sweet spice notes, and semblances of both earth and leaf matter without really being either. This is a very good nebbiolo, beautifully framed and extended, full of interest and classically styled. We have a wine worth following here, for certain." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

Praeter’s first Nebbiolo release from the Talc Hill Vineyard.

Vineyard
The site is situated between 450-480m ASL, on a steep north-north west facing slope. Shallow brown loam over chalky limestone and quartz. The site features 7 different clones of Nebbiolo, some of which don’t have wide dissemination around Australia. An important historical planting for the country.

Winemaking
Grapes were 100% destemmed and transferred via gravity to an open fermenter where they underwent spontaneous alcoholic fermentation. Only pump overs were used during the course of maceration, and the grapes stayed on skins for 24 days before being pressed and racked to seasoned, large-format oak for malolactic fermentation. The wine stayed on fine lees for 11 months before being racked and bottled without fining or filtration.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
