Description

The Florita vineyard in Watervale is one of Australia’s great Riesling sites. First planted in the 1960s and bought by the Barry family in 1986, it sits on classic terra rossa over limestone — prime country for fine, long-lived Riesling.

The 2025 release keeps to the house style: dry, tense and finely cut. Lime, green apple and bath-salt aromatics lead into a palate that’s all precision and drive. The acidity is crisp but not sharp, finishing long and chalky.

No tricks here, just pure Clare fruit handled with restraint. It’ll drink beautifully young for its snap and energy, but there’s no rush — Florita has the bones to age for decades.

"Electric riesling. This has it all... So refreshing and energetic in its dart-shaped, slim-line frame. Pristine as all get out, too. In its vogue, this is stupendous."
- Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

96 points - "A real beauty, The Florita offers the heady scent of the Clare Valley in springtime: citrus blossom, white flowers, just-squeezed limes and cut apple. Impressive intensity from the first sip with a deeply concentrated essence of lime, citrus, apple, grapefruit pith and lingering background herbs. The power and aromatic beauty of Florita fruit is on full show, delivered on linear, fine-edged acidity. Mouth wateringly dry. Drink now–2038" - The Vintage Journal

95 points - "Electric riesling. This has it all. Vim and vigour driven by tart citrus fruit characters, a glacial, saline core, crunchy green apple, touches of slate and river pebble, and a general sense of being brittle, crisp and laced with distinct minerality. So refreshing and energetic in its dart-shaped, slim-line frame. Pristine as all get out, too. In its vogue, this is stupendous." - Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

Florita’ is Spanish for ‘little flower’. Located fifteen kilometres south of Clare township in the tiny village of Watervale, the famous Riesling vineyard was planted to Palamino in 1946 for making Fino Sherry, and replanted to Riesling in 1962. The birthplace of Leo Buring Watervale Riesling, Florita was where legendary winemaker John Vickery sourced his grapes for his great Watervale Rieslings of the 1960s and 1970s. The 80-acre vineyard was sold by globally-owned multi-national company, Lindeman's to brother's Mark, Peter and John Barry in 1986.

First released as the 'Florita Riesling' in 2004 by Jim Barry Wines, this micro-batch Riesling is made from grapes hand-selected from individual rows. Its best fruit comes from vines planted in shallow loamy soils and the vineyard has good air-drainage which alleviates the risk of frost.

The Florita 2024 leaps from the glass, with white florals, orange blossom, orange rind, exotic lime, bath salts and fresh wild lavender.

Crystalline from the second the wine enters the mouth. The characters of the nose flow through to the palate, all finishing with dried lime leaves. This Riesling is an absolute powerhouse, with
intense flavour and an incredibly long drive.

Jim Barry

Jim Barry Wines is a family affair in the Clare Valley.

Founded by one of SA's most influential wine figures, this producer has been one of the most acclaimed in the region since it began in 1974.

They focus primarily on traditional Clare Valley varieties, with a myriad of laser-sharp Rieslings, powerful Shiraz and intense Cabernet blends making up the foundations of the range. With a sprawling range including everything from super-premium to top value, they are considered a cornerstone of the Clare with classic wines that develop beautifully in the cellar given time.

Now, with the third generation of Barrys - Sam, Tom and Olivia - now in charge of the winemaking, marketing and business development, there is a new energy about the brand and there are plenty of exciting new things on the horizon.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
