Description

Ken Helm’s Classic Dry Riesling is about as Canberra as it gets. It’s been the flagship of this tiny Murrumbateman operation for decades, and with the 2025 vintage, it’s clear there’s no slowing down. Grown on mature vines in the Helm family vineyards, this is cool-climate Riesling with real structure, drive and serious ageing potential.

Fermented dry, as always, the 2025 sits on the tighter, more focused end of the spectrum. There’s no fluff or tricks – just pristine fruit, clean lines and that electric acidity the region is known for. The wine sees no oak, no malolactic, no additions – just fruit, time and a very steady hand.

You could drink it now if you love that citrusy, chalky crunch, but the real payoff will come after a few years in the cellar when the texture starts to build and those classic aged Riesling notes come out to play.

95 points - "This feels super relaxed and easy to enjoy, probably reflecting how good Ken Helm felt about the season (a great one, he says, and after five hard vintages, ’25 has made up for the heartbreak). Pleasing on all fronts. As expected, lots of florals – all citrus and waxy flowers with a light spray of ginger spice. The palate is giving yet accentuated by a tang and juiciness, but the acidity feels soft and a slip of sweetness adds texture and mouthfeel. it’s a dry wine, and delicious to the last drop." - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

really enjoyed this one

Been meaning to purchase some Helm classic riesling since trying it in a restaurant in Canberra some time ago. Was as good as I remembered. On the list of light bright and not too expensive local Rieslings.

A fav

I would describe Helm a consistent producer of wonderful wines especially Rieslings. This wine is better bag for buck than the premium Riesling . Both are always a great examples of what Murrumbateman as a wine region has to offer. Good acidity and depth of flavour. Worth a try with some lovely seafood, you may also become fan if you give it a go.

The Grapes
The 2024/25 was a standout vintage and produced some of our best wines in 50 years. It started with warm, dry conditions with heavy morning frosts. Dry cool nights and warm days with storms continued through to harvest, resulting in harvest starting on time in early March. Riesling excelled with incredible flavours, crisp acid and a perfectly balanced palate. Yields were above average. A Riesling year to remember.

The Wine
Clean, aromatic fresh citrus aroma, with a palate of lime cordial and lifted flavours balanced by soft acidity. Lingering, refreshing finish.

Serve with
Like all of our Rieslings, this wine can be paired with numerous dishes. It especially complements Asian cuisines and seafood.

Cellar for
All our Rieslings are built to last, and can be enjoyed now while it is young and crisp. Cellar for 10 + years which will allow it to develop mellow and toasty lime cordial flavours.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
