Description

Frankland Estate’s estate Riesling is an absolute standout for anyone wanting high-end organic quality without the premium price tag.

Sourced from their certified organic vineyards in the cool Great Southern, this bottling combines fruit from younger vines grown in ironstone "coffee rock" soils with older 1988 plantings. The 2025 growing season turned out beautiful, pristine fruit that was pressed immediately upon arrival at the winery to preserve its high-energy vibrancy. The juice was fermented cold in stainless steel tanks before spending at least four months on its fermentation lees to build a gentle, waxy texture.

The nose is wonderfully aromatic, showing a mix of lime rind, green pear, bath salts, and a touch of chalky oyster shell. The palate is juicy, bright, and beautifully structured, balancing its lime-sherbet and tart apple flavours with a lovely powdery grip and a long, zesty finish. It carries a fantastic line of mouthwatering acidity that keeps everything perfectly focused.

This is a straight-up banger of a Riesling that is delicious right now but has the stamina to cellar confidently for over a decade.  Tip-top value too!

"Lots of true-to-variety riesling scents and flavours, heaps of joy and general vivacity; just a straight-up banger of a drink."
- Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

94 points - "High-end stuff. Juicy and bright; a zingy citrus core in red apple, tart green pear, gingery notes, mint leaf, chalky minerality and a general sense of tartness. It's very well balanced, composed, controlled and long lived. Finishes with a gentle, palate-staining intensity and residual freshness. Lots of true-to-variety riesling scents and flavours, heaps of joy and general vivacity; just a straight-up banger of a drink." - Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

94 points - "Cracking value Riesling from the Great Southern in Western Australia, the wine is fermented almost entirely in stainless steel and then spends four months on lees to enhance the texture. The fruit is sourced from a range of vineyards on the estate. Pale lemon in hue, this is beautifully structured. Intense, with minerally notes, talc, citrus and florals, limes and grapefruit, with a hint of honeysuckle, the structure is seamless, and there is impeccable balance, focus and length. This will drink delightfully for the next fifteen years." - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)

93 points - "The 2025 Riesling is aromatically soft and talcy, with flowers, soap, shells and sweet orchard fruit. This is all pears and apples—it's lovely. In the mouth, the wine is flavorsome yet restrained, with a persistent splay of flavor through the finish. This is really good, and really good value for money. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap." - Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

93 points - "Brisk, bright acidity makes for a well-structured wine laying the groundwork for a youthful, concentrated Riesling from a region that produces some of the best Riesling in the country. Offers an engaging bouquet in citrus lemon, grapefruit, green apple with just the lightest of spices. It is a fine-edged, beautifully subtle Riesling. The palate is taut but nicely textural, too, with lime zest and juiciness to the fore before finishing on a lemon pastille note, clean and tangy. It’s a great combination of acid/fruit/texture and, if you are after an age-worthy Riesling, it fits the bill. Or not. It can very easily be opened today." - Jeni Port (Wine Pilot)

92 points - "Juicy, lime and green apple, lemon rind and lime leaf, a slight almond and sake-like nuttiness. It’s lively, pushes into more yellow fruit flavours, a bit of crunch and stony grip, some quinine-like bitterness, dry and firm on a finish of good length. No shortage of character. Good." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

Tasting Note
Aromatic and expressive, this wine opens with a fragrant lift of spice, bath salts, and white florals, followed by notes of lime, mandarin, white jubes, and a touch of oyster shell. The palate is texturally driven, led by racy acidity wrapped in vibrant flavours of citrus and nectarine. Nuances of talc, iodine, and saline minerality build structure and complexity.

With fantastic length, this wine is consistent with Frankland Estate’s established Riesling style—displaying a precise balance of pristine fruit, delicate acidity, and generosity of flavour. Enjoy now or confidently cellar for up to 10 years to see further complexity unfold.

Vineyard
Made from 100% Riesling, sourced from the estate’s certified organic vineyards at Frankland Estate:

Younger vines (planted 2006) from the Top Block, grown in high ironstone “coffee rock” soils

Older vines (planted 1988) from the Olive, Pole, Road, and Bush Blocks, grown in duplex soils of ironstone gravel over clay

The vineyard is managed using vertical shoot positioning, with plantings of Geisenheim and Houghton clones across undulating slopes. The region’s cool nights and long ripening periods allow for maximum flavour development and the preservation of Frankland’s signature vibrant acidity.

Vinification
Grapes were:

Pressed immediately upon arrival at the winery

Juice settled overnight, then racked and fermented in small stainless-steel tanks

Fermentation temperatures maintained between 12–15°C for four weeks

Minimal intervention to express the purity of organically grown fruit

Aged on fermentation lees for at least 8 months before bottling at the winery

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
