Description

Peter Dredge is one of the most compelling characters in the modern Tasmanian wine scene. The Dr Edge label started as an alter-ego project to break free from corporate winemaking constraints, giving Dredge a platform to highlight Tassie's distinct sub-regions with an unpretentious, hands-off approach. This season, he has launched a fascinating side-by-side study using identical fruit parcels to show exactly how different maturation vessels alter a wine's DNA.

For this component of the series, Dredge sources a three-way fruit blend from the Derwent Valley, Tamar Valley, and East Coast. The juice goes straight into seasoned French oak barriques for a natural ferment on full lees, including a tiny handful of whole clusters hidden in the barrels. It sits for nine months without any heavy-handed intervention or modern polishing tricks.

There's a lovely richness and approachability to the 2025's. It leads with a distinct, smoky flintiness and a punch of savoury reduction before opening up into green pear flesh, lemon peel, and a distinct herbal lift, with the wood further rounding things out.

It's deep, structured, layered and just so damn delicious to drink. One of our favourite Aussie Chardies in ripping form!

"There’s so much interest, so much power and so much length, with perfectly judged texture and all-round balance. In fact I’d have this wine in the conversation as one of the best chardonnays of the year. "

96 points - "There’s a lot of savouriness in play here. In fact there’s a lot of Unami. There are earth, hay, cedar, smoke, pine needle and sweet spice notes, all of which integrate perfectly with white peach, grapefruit, custard apple and nashi-pear-like fruit. There’s a clear sense of control here but there’s also an expansiveness. The Clay Matured version showed fennel on the palate; it’s more evident on the nose here. I’m not sure where things will be in, say, five or seven years time, but for now this Barrique Matured version feels and tastes the more complete wine. In fact, skip the theory and analysis and this is just one hell of a humdinger of a wine. There’s so much interest, so much power and so much length, with perfectly judged texture and all-round balance. In fact I’d have this wine in the conversation as one of the best chardonnays of the year. I particularly like how everything keeps on going through the length of the wine; nothing dangles, nothing gives up, all the elements shoulder on together." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

Dr. Edge

Peter Dredge is Dr. Edge. He is one of the most intuitive and talented winemakers on the Apple Isle.

With a wealth of experience garnered at wineries such as Bay of Fires, he has revitalised the Meadowbank label and returned it to its place as one of the must-watch vineyards in Tasmania.

Dr. Edge is his passion project where he can take risks and make Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Riesling that truly excites him. His creativity can fly under the Dr. Edge banner and wines that walk a fine line of tension, funk and freshness invariably arise.

Only small batches of wine is produced, all made by hand, and typically they sell out in short order. Playful, pleasurable and remarkably thoughtful, the Dr. Edge creations are riveting things to drink and have rightfully earned cult status among collectors of Tasmania's finest.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
