Description

Peter Dredge has spent decades working across major mainland and Tasmanian estates, building a reputation for crafting exceptionally pure, site-driven cool-climate wines. With this unique vessel series, he is giving us a raw, transparent look at how the vessel itself shapes the voice of the fruit.

This release takes the exact same multi-regional parcel of fruit used in the barrel version - dominated by the Derwent Valley - but matures it entirely within large 1,000L clay amphorae for nine months. Dredge avoids any wood contact here, relying on the breathing properties of the raw clay to handle the wine.

It drops into the glass with a remarkably crisp, pristine energy. The fruit focus is incredibly direct, showing punchy citrus oil, raw nashi pear, and a distinct, wild sea-spray briny note. It feels tightly wound and glossy, with an extra degree of spice and tension perhaps over the barrel-aged version.

Another outstanding and fascinating wine from this winemaking superstar.

95 points
"There are a lot of things here that feel tucked in and tucked up; it builds a juicy intensity as it breathes but there’s a long sail ahead to where it will end up. In short, it’s an impeccable Tasmanian chardonnay."
- Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

95 points - "First sip and all I get is a pure stream of grapefruit. I love that. I often see grapefruit characters as an aftertaste or with air, but to get it upfront is both a bonus and a good sign. It comes here attached to pear, a raw cedar-like character, brine and even crushed fennel, though everything is delivered with the glow of white winter sunlight, crisp, dramatically pristine, its own hue and its own cry. There are a lot of things here that feel tucked in and tucked up; it builds a juicy intensity as it breathes but there’s a long sail ahead to where it will end up. In short, it’s an impeccable Tasmanian chardonnay. I personally would not hesitate. Texture, length, interest and a general ‘feel’ that is invested in delivering more." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

Dr. Edge

Peter Dredge is Dr. Edge. He is one of the most intuitive and talented winemakers on the Apple Isle.

With a wealth of experience garnered at wineries such as Bay of Fires, he has revitalised the Meadowbank label and returned it to its place as one of the must-watch vineyards in Tasmania.

Dr. Edge is his passion project where he can take risks and make Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Riesling that truly excites him. His creativity can fly under the Dr. Edge banner and wines that walk a fine line of tension, funk and freshness invariably arise.

Only small batches of wine is produced, all made by hand, and typically they sell out in short order. Playful, pleasurable and remarkably thoughtful, the Dr. Edge creations are riveting things to drink and have rightfully earned cult status among collectors of Tasmania's finest.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
