We were absolutely thrilled to get our first look at the Domenica Chenin Blanc this year. Even though this is only its second release, it might actually be the standout white of the entire Domenica lineup for 2025. 

Sourced from a tiny patch of just 13 rows grafted onto older rootstock right near the winery, it carries all the distinct thumbprints of Pete’s white winemaking. He handles it with the same care and intention as his top-tier Chardonnay, making sure that texture and structure are playing equal roles in the finished wine.

The nose kicks off with wild jasmine, lemon zest, and a hit of baking spice, backed by a savoury edge of wet rock and snow pea. You get a touch of lemon curd richness to start, but it’s immediately pulled tight by a crisp, driving line of natural acidity.

We only managed to get our hands on three dozen bottles, so if you want to see what Pete can do with Chenin, jump on it quickly.

The 13 rows of Chenin Blanc were recently grafted onto vines planted in 2006. These are the closest vines to our winery on a south east facing slope of about ¾ acre. There was minimal irrigation in 2025.

A complex wine, with aromas of lemon zest and baking spices. Perfumed wild jasmine, snow pea tendril, delicate hints of candied peel and lemon curd. There are notes of wet rocks and native blossom.

Medium-bodied and with great textural interest. Taut, crisp acid drives the wine and will reward those with the patience to cellar.

Our second release, a wine of complex flavour and intrigue.

Unfiltered and sealed under Diam with wax.

Domenica

Peter Graham is one of Beechworth's most thoughtful and talented winemakers. From his small plot of land on the Beechworth "Golden Mile", Pete crafts articulate and powerful wines with a gentle hand.

He farms his vineyard organically, though uncertified, with great care. The quality of fruit it yields is first class. In the winery, everything is moved via gravity. Patience is a virtue that Pete definitely possesses. No wine is released until it's 'ready'.

The Nebbiolo is one of the country's benchmarks. The Chardonnay is always in high demand given Pete's history as assistant winemaker at Giaconda. The Shiraz is the very model of modern Australian Shiraz; a wine with both power and refinement.

As Mike Bennie once noted:"If you’re into the new wave of truefine wine producers of Australia you should be onto, should get onto, Domenica. Classics in the making. Rising high."
