Description

CRFT has become a specialist in Gruner Veltliner, but the Arranmore release is their most personal. It’s sourced from just eight rows of estate-grown vines at their Carey Gully home - a cold, breezy, east-facing slope that sits at a lofty 550 meters. It’s a site Candice and Frewin farm organically, and the relentlessly cool conditions are exactly what this variety needs to find its energy.

The 2025 was wild-fermented on full solids in seasoned French barriques, followed by full malolactic fermentation and regular lees stirring. It’s a process designed to build texture and weight while allowing the vineyard's shale and ironstone bedrock to guide the wine's shape.

It leads with citrus blossom and lime leaf, but the real interest lies in the true Gruner secondary notes: white pepper, fennel seed, and a slate-like minerality. It’s a sophisticated, textural white that proves the Adelaide Hills is a legit home for this variety.

95 points
"Far out, this is outstanding... It's fragrant, medium weight yet refreshing, distinctly varietal and ends up being a stellar 'textural, salty white wine'. Stripes earned for persistence with the variety."
- Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "Far out, this is outstanding. There's a savoury undertow under classic nashi pear, kohlrabi piquancy, ginger and lime characters – all of this harmonious and beautifully laid out. Succulent texture, a bit of concentration, the slip of yeastiness lending immense charm and detail. It's fragrant, medium weight yet refreshing, distinctly varietal and ends up being a stellar 'textural, salty white wine'. Stripes earned for persistence with the variety." - Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

92 points - "Savoury-herbaceous start, dusty, earthy tickle, honeysuckle, jasmine, green pear, wax, a crunch of green asparagus, pickled lemon, watermelon rind, bitter citrus acidity with bitter oils, oregano and green grapefruit in the back end. The wine has a smooth, detailed texture; it’s very fresh and perky with a green almond-phenolic finish. Winning on the refreshment factor." - Kasia Sobiesiak (The Wine Front)

About the wine
It glistens in the glass like an Australian green sapphire. Citrus blossoms, lime and lime leaf initially, then in true Gruner style, the background flavours of white pepper and fennel seeds light-up! The palate shows slate like minerality and is rich and full with a powdery / crunchy, savory / sweet texture like a green papaya. 12.5% alc/vol

Cellaring
Enjoy at release or drink/cellar until 2030+.

Winemaking
Made by Candice and Frew at the CRFT winery in Carey Gully. Whole-bunch pressed to tank, then transferred to older seasoned (neutral) French barriques for barrel fermentation on full solids. 100% wild yeast ferment. Full wild MLF and regular lees stirring. Around 2 months in barrel. Vegan friendly.

Arranmore Vineyard
If there is one reason why we tough-out the cold climate at Arranmore, well this vineyard is it! Being an East / South facing slope on top off a breezy hill, it can feel relentlessly cold.
When we drive out the driveway it feels like anywhere in SA is warmer than us, and that's probably the truth.

Estate-owned, managed and farmed, the 5-acre Arranmore Vineyard has been farmed organically since Frewin & Candice took ownership in January 2016. NASAA Certified Organic since February 2019.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
