Description

Coriole practically introduced Fiano to Australia back in 2005, so when they release a new single-vineyard expression, we pay attention. While we’ve long loved their McLaren Vale staples, the "Yinku" is a different beast entirely - coming from a new high-altitude site in Kuitpo in the Adelaide Hills. Sitting at 400m, it’s a much cooler spot that brings a completely different energy to the variety.

Duncan Lloyd has handled this with a light touch, using old oak for fermentation and maturation. The goal here isn't to mask the fruit with wood, but to build the classic Fiano texture while letting the cool acidity stay front and centre. It’s named after the little buttonquail birds found in the vineyard, and it feels just as lively as the name suggests.

It’s incredibly fragrant, jumping out with jasmine, peach blossom, and a hint of mint. On the palate, it’s all about nashi pear and cold-poached apple, backed by a flinty, mineral backbone. A fantastic new addition from the team we reckon is the country's premier Fiano producer.

"Such a charmingly fragrant and respectfully exotic wine, with a mineral undercurrent of wet stones and flint. It’s textural, acidity is vivid, there’s pithiness, and the flavour has nagging length. What a stunning new entrant to the swelling ranks of fiano."
- Marcus Ellis (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "From Coriole’s vineyard in Kuitpo at 400m. Old-oak fermentation and maturation. A new wine to the extensive lineup, and a very different fiano to the McLaren Vale iterations. Aromatically lifted, this is prettily adorned with white floral scents, peach blossom, jasmine, mint and stone fruit, with nashi and cold-poached apple more apparent on the palate. Such a charmingly fragrant and respectfully exotic wine, with a mineral undercurrent of wet stones and flint. It’s textural, acidity is vivid, there’s pithiness, and the flavour has nagging length. What a stunning new entrant to the swelling ranks of fiano." - Marcus Ellis (Halliday Wine Companion)

Coriole

Coriole is a McLaren Vale institution.

It's a winery with two sides. On one hand, they craft classic regional versions of Shiraz and Cabernet which are exemplary. On the other, they have been a trailblazer for emerging varieties (Italian varieties, in particular) in Australia.

Owner and winemaker, Mark Lloyd was one of the first in the country to experiment with Sangiovese and Fiano and has been hugely influential in bringing these varieties into the Australian wine zeitgeist.

Today, Mark's son Duncan has taken over the winemaking duties and his brother Peter as General Manager. The experimentation with emerging varieties continues under their guidance with Nero d'Avola, Negroamaro, and Piquepoul having come into the fold. Coriole never stands still. They are trailblazers who have had a huge impact on the changing face of modern Australian wine.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
