Description

Lutruwita is Jim Chatto’s high-definition snapshot of Tasmania. While he’s famous for his single-site Huon Valley wines, this is a blend of no less than seven clones across the Huon, Coal, and Derwent Valleys, Pipers River, and the East Coast. It’s a massive undertaking that pulls the best traits from across the island into one bottle - the structure of the south, the spice of the east, and the succulent fruit of the north.

The 2025 season was a winner for Tassie. A wet spring set up healthy yields, while a warm, dry run into harvest allowed the fruit to reach full maturity without losing its edge. Jim kept the winemaking instinctive: handpicked fruit, 10% whole bunches for a bit of lift, and just 15% new French oak. It hasn't been forced; it’s a medium-bodied Pinot that relies on intensity and focus rather than sheer weight.

It’s remarkably detailed. You get classic Tassie elegance - red and black forest fruits and crushed florals, backed by a savoury, spiced undertone. The tannins are fine and detailed, giving the wine a slight frame that belies its "entry-level" status. It’s plush, expressive, and has the effortless flow that has made Chatto one of the most chased labels in the country.

Wow

Beautiful ruby transparency, fresh and seductively juicy. Missed out on a 5 star rating only because of its youth.

Mmmmm...Mania.

This wine has to be one of the best value Pinots on the market. So easy to drink, soft and perfumed; just like Pinot should be. Big call but I prefer the Mania to the Lutruwita. Big call.

TASTING NOTE
A true Tassie blend celebrating everything we love about
Tasmanian Pinot: Bright red & black fruits, exquisite florals,
intensity yet elegance, all coupled with wonderful length and
purity.
2025 SEASON
A warm and relatively dry season across Tasmania. Rainfall
figures were about 10% below the longterm average. However, a
wetter than average spring provided for good yields right across
the state. These slightly higher than average yields were helped
greatly by warm, and dry finish to the growing season, enjoyed
by the vines. Resulting in medium weight yet remarkably intense
Pinot Noirs, with great detail and focus.

Chatto Wines

Jim Chatto is revered as one of the finest winemakers currently working in Australia.

His recent reinvigoration at Mount Pleasant in the Hunter Valley has received phenomenal critical acclaim, as has his personal Tasmanian project, Chatto wines.

After purchasing a plot of land that Jim describes as "right on the edge of viticultural possibility", planting began in 2007.

In only a short amount of time, this site has produced some extraordinary wines and looks set to become one of the Apple Isle most prized viticultural assets.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
