Description

Amisfield’s rosé is made from estate-grown Pinot Noir, picked early to keep the fruit fresh and the acidity crisp. The fruit comes mainly from their Pisa vineyard – stony soils, cool nights, plenty of flavour without too much weight.

The 2025 season ran warm and dry, so they picked early to keep things tight. The grapes were pressed straight off skins for a pale blush colour, then cool-fermented in stainless steel to lock in the fruit. No tricks, no sweetness – just clean, dry rosé.

It’s full of red berry and citrus notes, light on its feet but not thin. The texture is smooth, the finish crisp. A proper dry rosé made for food, warm days and easy afternoons.

Growing Season
The 2025 vintage began with a typically foggy winter, with many days spent pruning under the inversion layer. Spring arrived with sunshine, and as soil temperatures gradually warmed, budburst occurred toward the end of September. Unfortunately, a severe frost event hit the region in early November. While some varieties struggled to recover, Pinot Noir emerged relatively unscathed. December was typically unsettled, alternating between warm periods and well-timed rainfall. January and February were very dry, and although an early harvest seemed likely, total heat accumulation (GDDs) remained close to the long-term average. Disease pressure was low due to the dry conditions. Harvest began on March 10 under ideal dry weather. Yields were down, but the fruit quality was exceptional — a rewarding finish to a challenging season.

Vineyard
Amisfield Vineyard sits at the foot of the Pisa mountain range in Central Otago. The organic Pinot Noir fruit for this Rosé is grown on the lower terraces in Waenga silty loam soils, producing bright berry flavours and a delicate tannin profile.

Winemaking
Single-estate Pinot Noir was cold-soaked for approximately four hours before pressing the brightly coloured juice from the skins. The juice was fermented cool using selected aromatic yeast, then rested on fine lees before being bottled early to preserve freshness and aromatic vibrancy.

Tasting Notes
A beautifully elegant expression of Rosé, revealing vivid flavours of cranberry and watermelon, accented by a delicate hint of rose petal. The palate is flavourful yet refined, perfectly balanced by freshness and expressive fruit. A charming wine with layers, poise, and impressive length.
