Description

Agincourt is the Yarra Yering Cabernet blend you don’t have to wait a decade to open. The 2024 has already collected two trophies for Cabernet blends, delivering classic Yarra claret character with plenty of immediate appeal.

Sarah Crowe blends 75% Cabernet Sauvignon with 25% Malbec, drawing on plantings dating to 1995 and 1990 respectively. Small-batch fermentation and mostly seasoned French oak keep the emphasis on fruit, with Malbec adding generosity and fresh acidity.

Blackcurrant and plum come with violets, leafy herbs and a little cedar. It’s medium-bodied but concentrated, with fine tannins, a juicy middle and a long, savoury finish. Very approachable now but has the bones to go 5-10 years no trouble.

A multiple-trophy-winning Cabernet Malbec that delivers Yarra Yering pedigree without the long wait.

96+ points – "A blend of 75/25% '95-planted cabernet sauvignon/'90-planted malbec. Matured in French barriques (15% new). A very bright crimson purple announces a perfumed and brightly fruited wine with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry leaf, hedgerow and subtle cedar scents. Medium bodied, this is a good deal denser and more structured than the '23. Having said that, it's very nicely balanced and can be enjoyed now. A lovely example to drink over the next six to eight years." - Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

96 points – "Deep and dense ruby hue, with purple tints at the edge. Blackberry, mulberry, tobacco and cedar shavings lift from the glass. The palate sings with grace and harmony remarkable for its youth. Cassis, anise, violets and graphite are wrapped in a mesh of fine grained tannins. It carries incredibly long and the finish, when it eventually arrives, is a masterclass of balance and poise." - Stuart Knox (The Real Review)

94 points – "In flavour terms this leans heavily on cabernet. It’s a mid-weight, fresh, leafy red wine with plum, boysenberry, leafy herbs and mint running persuasively throughout. Cedarwood oak plays a minor but positive role, and from start to finish it feels both pure-fruited and perfectly well balanced. The charm factor is high here, as is the impression that tannin, tension and the wine’s assorted tastes and textures have all been arranged just so. The length of the finish here, infused with green olives characters, is of particular note." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

93 Points – Andrew Caillard MW, The Vintage Journal

Fragrant with purple violets and fresh raspberry leaf. A refreshing berry fruit profile melts into and complements the savoury characters. Nettle with its earthiness and a cool leafy lift enhance the savoury clove spice element. Vibrant acidity, a result of the Malbec component, brings an acid crunch to the wine. A wine of wonderful fruit purity, savoury texture and graceful fine tannins.

VINES

Cabernet Sauvignon was first planted in the Agincourt block in 1995 and blended with Malbec planted in 1990. Today, the blend evolution includes modern Cabernet clones 412 and WA Cape. We have also begun to explore additional Malbec clones.

WINEMAKING

Hand harvested; the Cabernet is destemmed, berry sorted, then crushed into half-tonne open fermenters. A small amount (5%) was whole bunch fermented for extra lift and perfume. Malbec is destemmed into small fermenters and hand plunged twice daily. Maturation in French Bordeaux-shaped barrels, 10% new oak to enhance the juicy fruit palate and immediate enjoyment.

Cellaring

Crafted to be approachable when young, yet will evolve for 5+ years under suitable cellaring. The aromatics and accessible fruit palate make for a deliciously approachable Cabernet blend.

Today, the wines are crafted by the talented Sarah Crowe. She brings the wines to bottle with the same passion and attention to detail that made the great Yarra Yering wines of old so revered.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
