Description

Year after year, this wine is one of the pace-setters for cool-climate Chardonnay in Australia and the 2024 is no exception. From an early, low-yielding La Niña vintage comes a wine of superb focus and depth, embodying the understated power that’s become the signature of Yabby Lake’s flagship white.

Handpicked and whole bunch pressed, the juice was wild fermented in 500L French oak barrels (25% new) and left on lees for 10 months. The result is a beautifully layered Chardonnay, coiled and concentrated, yet with an effortless elegance.

Expect white stone fruits, grapefruit pith, citrus blossom and flinty, nutty complexity. There’s intensity here, but it’s tightly wrapped, with a piercing line of acidity and chalky structure that promises a long future ahead.

As usual, the quantities are small thanks to tiny yields. It's a much-loved go-to for lovers of finessed, mineral-driven Australian Chardonnay.

wonderful palatable drink

Very balanced, not to fruity. Leaves a fantastic after taste on the palate

aroma

The Chardonnay has orchard stone fruit, grapefruit, citrus blossom, a hint of roasted almond and a lovely flinty note underlying.
palate

The palate is youthful and intensely concentrated, there is a nice layer of almond meal and cashew nut from the barrel fermentation rounding out the fruit. There are layers of deeply textured and concentrated fruit. White stone fruit and pithy grapefruit weave through a tightly wound and piercingly intense, mineral finish that goes on and on.
cellaring potential

Cellar for at least five years, the wine will go well past 10 years.
vintage notes

The 2024 vintage was fine and early with low crops, resulting in finely poised wines.
vinification

Handpicked between 20 – 24 February and whole bunch pressed. The juice was transferred to 500 litre French oak barrels for natural fermentation. A 25% portion of which were new. The wines were aged on lees in oak for a further 10 months, prior to estate bottling in late January 2025.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
