Description

Kerri Thompson's Wines by KT label has long been a reference point for Clare Valley Riesling, and the 5452 bottling is her most approachable expression. Named for the Auburn postcode, it’s drawn from a handful of trusted local growers and crafted in a deliberately bright, easy-drinking style.

The 2024 vintage in Clare was relatively mild, allowing the Riesling to hang on the vine long enough to build flavour while keeping that crisp line of acidity. Fermented cool and left in stainless steel to highlight the purity of fruit, this is a wine built for refreshment rather than cellaring. Expect citrus zest, green apple and floral lift, wrapped up in a clean, zippy finish that makes it very more-ish.

It’s not a wine that tries too hard, and that’s the point. For the price, this delivers exactly what Clare does best – dry Riesling with freshness, flavour and charm.

Aromas of lime juice, lemon blossom, green melon, chalk, slate and jasmine. There's a lovely purity and drive of punchy and crunchy citrus flavours and precise, mouth-watering acidity. Long, pointed and delicious.

A neat and tidy, up-and-down-the-line riesling of Clare, but with that little spark of KT pizzazz that sees more minerality, a build of texture, a little savouriness amongst the more expected citrus and green apple characters. It's got great intensity, excellent length, a sense of poise. That's ticking a lot of boxes and it bests many from the region at the price point.

Wines by KT are small, lovingly cared for parcels of fruit that utilise traditional techniques in their creation. I'm passionate about the township of Watervale 5452 and am working with dry grown, sustainably farmed vineyards in the area. With gentle care from grapegrower to winemaker, it's my intention to produce wines with drinkability and personality.

5452 by KT is sourced from a blend of vineyards from Watervale and surrounds including the peglidis vineyard. This dry Riesling and its zesty fruit flavour, shows varietal citrus and punchy fruit characters with a crisp finish.
