Description

The Blind Spot Vineyard is Willunga 100’s home turf - a 15-acre block of dry-grown bush vines planted more than 50 years ago in the deep sands of Blewitt Springs. These soils, flecked with ironstone and underpinned by clay, are Grenache’s sweet spot, producing wines that hum with brightness yet carry a savoury, earthy undertow.

The 2024 season gave the vines exactly what they needed: a cool start that slowed ripening and built freshness, followed by the warmth of summer to fill out the fruit. The result is a beautifully balanced Grenache that feels both vibrant and grounded. Raspberry, cherry and redcurrant leap from the glass, lifted by gentle spice, pepper and a touch of dried herb. The palate is supple and flowing, with fine sandy tannins and a lick of earth and ironstone through the finish.

Fermented in open vats and matured almost entirely in stainless steel, with just a whisper of old oak for texture, this is Grenache at its most expressive and honest – bright, elegant and full of character. A textbook Blewitt Springs release and a standout for value.

"It’s another beautiful wine from the exceptional 2024 suite. Stunning."

97 points - "The 2024 Blind Spot Vineyard Grenache leads with rose petals and sweet tobacco, and layers of graphite and floral perfume abound. This is alluring and delicate, fragrant and mineral. It's a seriously typical McLaren Vale Grenache, which is a compliment of the highest order. In the mouth, the wine is silky, supple and fresh, with blood orange, timut pepper and fennel. The fruit was whole-berry sorted, with no crushing—i.e., a little carbonic maceration impact—and was basket pressed to stainless steel. The wine then spent 10 months on light lees in stainless steel, and while a small component of large-format oak was blended back in, this is not a main feature of the wine. It's a truly beautiful wine here, a mainline into the dirt—to be specific, the very fine, sandy dunes that account for the majority of the terroir here. It is unique to this place (magic numbers: naturally low pH of 3.22 and total acidity of 6.72, with flavor and phenolic ripeness) and magnificent. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap." - Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

97 points - "From the home Blewitt Springs vineyard on Maslin Sands over ironstone and clay; 55-year-old bush vines; destemmed, 10 days on skins; matured in steel (75%) and an old puncheon. Like all the single vineyard wines, this is charmingly light in colour, with this initially reserved in aromatics. But air brings those out rapidly, bursting with dusky floral notes, marasca cherry and Middle Eastern spices, the key here, and across the wines, is an essential savouriness, a lack of poppy ease. And that’s very much to the good. The three are nuanced in their making, but not dissimilar in elaboration, the theme an absence of artefact, yielding a clear delineation between cuvées. Expressly red fruited, with a fragrant muskiness, a headiness of sultry fragrance, and a palate built on finely tooled tannin and clean acidity, it’s another beautiful wine from the exceptional 2024 suite. Stunning." - Marcus Ellis (Halliday Wine Companion)

96 points - "Deep, dark purple-red in the glass, with broken rock, graphite and bitumen aromas, dark fruits lurking beneath together with lashings of drying, savoury tannins. A big, geneorus, ample wine with intensity and persistence. Impressive grenache, with marvellous structure and presence. It has a big future although it delivers great pleasure already. A cracking grenache!" - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

95 points - "Raspberry, cherry, dried roses, plenty of exotic spice, a little mint and dried herb perfume. Medium-bodied yet delivers a goodly amount of flavour and concentration, again the cherry and raspberry, offers freshness, and emery board tannin of high quality lends traction, closing with a juicy finish of excellent length and gently sandy grip. Very good, and while there’s plenty to sink your teeth into, it’s still pretty approachable now." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

The 2024 vintage had early season cooler conditions that allowed the fruit to mature relatively slowly through the early season.
This was a good platform to enable the fruit to maintain its’ brightness during the heat of January and February resulting in good fruit expression and tannin structure.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
