Description

”There is serious history and intent behind these wines, but we didn’t want the range itself to feel too serious.”
- Sarah Crowe (Warramate Winemaker)

Sarah Crowe was originally snapped up by Yarra Yering due to her experience and passion for Shiraz, and it still represents the brand's biggest plantings. This is a delicious introduction into the sought-after YY style made famous by Dry Red No.2 and Underhill Shiraz.

Whole-berry fermentation with 20% whole bunches building fragrance and texture. Fifteen months in French oak, just 10% new, adds a little seasoning without covering the fruit. Plum and dark berries come with violets, pepper and savoury spice. It’s generous and juicy, with fine tannins carrying a long finish and a fresh herbal edge keeping it lively.

A gold medal at the Yarra Valley Wine Show and some lovely reviews back up the quality here. Lovely to drink in the short-to-medium term and excellent value.

"Medium–full bodied, this delivers terrific bang for your buck ... those who put some away for four to six years will be well rewarded."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

Gold Medal - Yarra Valley Wine Show

95 points - "With 20% whole bunches and matured in barriques (10% new). A medium, bright crimson. Perfumed with bright red and black fruits, allspice and crushed violets. Medium–full bodied, this delivers terrific bang for your buck. A step up on the '23, and while it's calling out for food now, those who put some away for four to six years will be well rewarded." - Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

92 points - "Very deep ruby with a hint of purple at the rim. Mulberry preserve and ripe liquorice aromatics. The palate is rich and full, with deep blue and black fruits and hints of mocha and star anise as it flows to a long finish. Tannins are finely wrought, allowing it to drive without compressing the palate, and the finish has a nice lift of pepper spice." - Stuart Knox (The Real Review)

90 points - "I don’t have winemaking specs but this smells and tastes bunchy and complex. It’s black cherried at heart with whispers of violets, chocolate and peppercorns, but stem, leaf, twig and woodsmoke notes are prominent too. It’s a touch arms-and-legs at present; another year in bottle will do it a lot of good." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

VINES

Drawn from selected blocks across the vineyard and blended from Old Vine, 1654, Best's Old Vine and Tahbilk clones. Together they contribute vibrant fruit, spice, structure and aromatic lift.

WINEmaking

Whole berry fermentation with a portion of whole bunches contributes a succulent fruit profile, aromatic lift and fine tannin structure. Hand plunging throughout fermentation allows for the gentle extraction of colour, flavour and texture. The wine was matured for 15 months in French oak, including 10% new oak, providing subtle complexity while allowing the fruit to remain the focus.

WINE

Berries and satsuma plum take centre stage, delivering a glossy, juicy palate with vibrant fruit at its core. Generosity is balanced by savoury notes of leather, brown spice and subtle whole bunch complexity. Fine tannins weave gently through the wine, while a whisper of stalk influence adds freshness, structure and intrigue. Persistent and layered, the finish carries both fruit purity and savoury detail.

cellaring

A fresh and immediate expression, made to be enjoyed now while its fruit is vibrant and bright. Careful cellaring for up to five years will reveal additional complexity.

Founded in 1969 by the visionary vigneron Dr. Bailey Carrodous, Yarra Yering has become a benchmark in quality and one of the most collected wineries in the country.

From this small patch of earth in the North of the Gruyere sub-region, Dr. Carrodous produced these legendary wines for more than three decades. In the process becoming recognised as one of the most influential winemakers in the Yarra's history.

Today, the wines are crafted by the talented Sarah Crowe. She brings the wines to bottle with the same passion and attention to detail that made the great Yarra Yering wines of old so revered.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
