VS&B's insanely smashable Pinot/Shiraz blend with a splash of Sangiovese. Surely one of the most easy-drinking reds in Beechworth.

Description

Tessa Brown and Jeremy Schmolzer have a knack for making complex Beechworth fruit feel completely effortless. The Pret-à-Rouge is their ultimate "don't think too hard" wine - a blend of Shiraz, Pinot Noir, and Sangiovese that shouldn't make sense but absolutely does. It’s built for early drinking and versatility, nailing the brief every year.

The 2024 release comes from a warmer, lower-cropping season, giving the wine a cheerful mix of red and blue fruits. Think macerated blackberries and cherries with a nice little hit of oregano-like herbage. While it’s incredibly approachable and succulent, it still carries that classic Beechworth savoury length and structure.

We’ve followed this label since day one and it remains the best place to start if you’re new to these rising stars of Victorian wine. It’s fresh, crunchy, and designed to be enjoyed right now.

"All the good squelch and juiciness... It works. And well. A slurpy, medium weight red of high drinkability, lots of charm and interest. Not particularly complex, but lots of interest in the sum of parts. It feels fresh as it does quite serious. A maximum enjoyment space it occupies."

And well. A slurpy, medium weight red of high drinkability, lots of charm and interest. Not particularly complex, but lots of interest in the sum of parts. It feels fresh as it does quite serious. Customer Reviews

Fan favourite, our Prêt-à-Rouge has always intended to communicate something of the intrinsic nature of Beechworth’s recognised red wine structure, in an accessible, earlier drinking frame. We’ve always worked hard to over deliver on succulence and approachability whilst still boasting classic Beechworth structure and savoury length in this wine.

This is a blend of Beechworth Shiraz (50%), Pinot Noir (40%), and Sangiovese (10%) from vineyards under uncertified organic management. 2024 was lower cropping, warm and early, and this wine shows cheerful red to blue fruits, savoury but ripe complexity and structure to length. Think macerated blackberry, cherry, and a crinkle of oregano herbage.

Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown

Tessa and Jeremy are playing a long-game with their Vignerons Schmolzer & Brown label.

They have invested in a block of land high in the hills behind Beechworth and have planted 10,000 vines on it over the last couple of years with the plan to farm it organically. Tessa has a wealth of experience from time at Sorrenberg and Kooyong, Jeremy is an architect by trade with an eye for detail.

It comes as no surprise that the buzz around this husband and wife team is palpable and the praise is high. Max Allen called them, “one of a remarkable number of impressive new wine labels to have cropped up in Beechworth over the last five years.”

They are going to be at the forefront of Beechworth wine for many years to come.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
