Description

This one ticks all the boxes for crisp, clean Great Southern Riesling. Made with minimal fuss and plenty of precision, it’s all about citrus, line, and that chalky kind of dryness you only get from this part of WA.

The fruit’s from cool-climate vineyards in the Great Southern, picked early to keep the acidity sharp. It’s fermented cool in stainless with no skin contact and no sugar left behind — just lime, green apple, maybe a little bath salt edge, and a dry, pithy finish that hangs on nicely. Nothing showy or overdone, just really well-made Riesling with a proper sense of place.

If you’re into dry whites that are clean and straight-talking, this is exactly that. Great value too.

Oh, Great Southern Riesling in the zone here at sub $30. Yes please! Lime peel and makrut lime leaf lead the aromas, making way for preserved lemon, salty minerality, sweet jasmine, and talc showing crystalline purity and pithy appeal. There’s a chalky talc-like texture to the palate which is packed with flavour and kept in check by forceful tension. Lime juice, lime pith and big salinity makes for a real margarita salt rim vibe here, and I’m all for it. Great intensity and structure to frame thanks to lovely, bitter, pithy phenolics and huge waves of saline acid which pulls the wine to long citrussy length. This has all the pieces in place for medium term cellaring, too. Incredible value.

Bang on. Excellent riesling. Lemon, grapefruit, tonic water and thistle notes with noteworthy intensity and the length to match. Pure and complex at once. One sip and you’re know you’re onto a good one.

Pithy citrus, melon skin, white flower and talc aromas. Fine, delicate and textured on the palate. Lashings of lemon, grapefruit, mineral and some shapely, grippy phenolics. Pure and long.

Such an impressive Riesling from the Great Southern region, this has an attractive pale lemon hue, gleaming brightly. Very aromatic, there are notes of lime sorbet, sea breezes and lemon sunlight soap (that bright and fresh aroma that can be so appealing). There are also fragrant bath salts and hints of stone fruits. The texture is soft and alluring and there is a line of oyster shell acidity running the length. A wine with a lingering finish, it is a joy now but will cellar and improve for at least a decade.

For low $20s, this was exceptional. At high 20s this would still be very good.

VINEYARD & WINEMAKING
The 2024 growing season delivered early ripening conditions for growing premium riesling in the Great Southern region. There was good rainfall over winter. Spring was reasonably dry and summer was hot which resulted in the riesling harvest being four weeks earlier than normal.

The parcels of fruit were brought into the winery, the free run juice undergoing a long and slow cold fermentation in stainless steel immediately after the pressing. This ensures the pristine floral and citrus fruit characters are preserved. The wine underwent very gentle lees stirring to add subtle texture before preparation for bottling. The wine was bottled in June 2024.

THE WINE
The colour is bright and pale gold, and the wine is highly perfumed with classic Great Southern riesling characters of apple blossom and citrus. A dry styled riesling, the palate displays lime zest, tart Granny Smith apple and a balanced, stony minerality. The finish is clean, with mouthwatering acidity and a lingering fruit presence. The light lees work adds an elegant, softly textured mouthfeel. The wine will evolve with time in the bottle, developing pronounced minerality and richness, while retaining refreshing acidity.
