Description

One of just two whites Sandra Bravo makes at Sierra de Tolono, and a wine that makes a strong case for taking Viura seriously. The grapes come from old vines in Rivas de Tereso and Villabuena de Alava in Rioja Alavesa, harvested later in 2024 than the two vintages prior.

The winemaking is unfussy by design. Indigenous yeast fermentation in stainless steel, starting from very low temperatures, then three months on lees before bottling. No oak, no shortcuts. Eleven and a half percent alcohol, which is remarkably low and tells you something about where Sandra is coming from with this style.

What you get in the glass is fresh, precise and a little unusual for the region. Fennel, wild herbs, anise and a quiet citrus thread on the nose, then a palate that balances a lightly waxy, creamy texture against a saline, chalky tension. Focused rather than flamboyant, with a clean, refreshing finish that holds its line.

We loved this wine and the value on offer here is superb.

93 points - "One of only two whites in the Sierra de Toloño range, this is a varietal Viura that uses grapes from Rivas de Tereso and Villabuena de Álava. Lees-aged for three months in stainless steel, it’s a subtle, sappy, waxy delight with appealing salinity, notes of lemongrass and quinine and a focused, refreshing finish. 2026-29." - Tim Atkin 2026 Rioja Report

92 points - "The 2024 Blanco is made from old-vine Viura planted in Ribas de Tereso, Rioja. Fennel, wild herbs and a note of soft green apple lead the nose. On the palate, it is intense, precise and fresh, with a lightly creamy texture gently shaped by soft chalky tension. The profile leans modern for the region, balancing a crisp edge with subtle creaminess and clear flavor definition. Within its category, it also
offers very strong value." - Vinous

92 points - "The white 2024 Blanco de Sierra de Toloño is clean, fresh and herbal, with notes of fennel and
aniseed, and has some floral notes. In 2024, the date of the harvest was delayed compared with 2022 and 2023, which is beneficial for the whites, as the grapes retained good acidity, balance and
full ripeness, which means more development of aromatic and gustative compounds. All the wines ferment with indigenous yeasts. In this case, it fermented in stainless steel, coming from very low
temperature, and it was kept in stainless steel with the lees. It has a moderate 11.5% alcohol, with a pH of 3.3 and 5.7 grams of acidity. Delicious. 12,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February
2025." - The Wine Advocate

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
