Description
This is the second release from Phase Three’s home block on the Flaxman/Eden Valley border – planted by the Kelley family with cuttings from some of the Valley’s most respected vineyards. The fruit comes mainly off “The Old Man’s Block”, a patch that sits beside their old barn under the watch of a giant gum tree that gives the wine its name. A few bunches from Truffle Hill and the Quarry Block made their way in too, along with a sprinkling of Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier from a baby vineyard that’s still finding its feet.
The 2024 harvest was a family affair – even the kids got a day off school to help pick. Yields were tiny, just 314 kilos of fruit, enough for a single barrique. Fermentation was all whole cluster, left on skins for 28 days before basket pressing and a quiet rest in seasoned oak. Bottled with nothing added but a touch of sulphur.
Only 280 bottles exist, and the wine itself has that same mix of energy and restraint that runs through all the Phase Three reds. Give it some air and it’ll keep revealing more layers over time.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

Our warehouse is automated so unless you tell us otherwise, we will ship your order. If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
