Description

Oakridge has been setting the pace for modern Yarra Chardonnay for years, and this release shows exactly why. Sourced from vineyards across the Valley and made with the same sharp eye as their top wines, it’s crisp, layered and refreshingly understated.

Everything’s done with a light hand – the fruit is hand picked, fermented wild, and aged in old French oak, no bells and whistles. What you get is Chardonnay with real drive and clarity, plenty of citrus and stone fruit, a flick of acid and just enough texture to keep it interesting.

It’s serious enough for the table, relaxed enough for a weeknight, and priced so you don’t have to think twice.

"An excellent introduction into the Oakridge chardonnay program. Immediately appealing with its aromas of ripe nectarines and a pinch of fresh vanillin. Even better on the harmonious, uncluttered and very flavoursome palate. Perfectly priced to drink and enjoy over the next year or two."

Background
The Yarra Valley Range showcases the best of our vineyard selections, with an emphasis on Upper Yarra Valley sites.

Tasting Notes
Pale straw and vivid yellow/green hues. Aromas of fresh-cut citrus, lemon, and lime, complemented by a floral lift that leaps out of the glass. Mineral whiffs of flint and baking spice add complexity and intrigue. Bright and exuberant citrus and grapefruit flavors are on display from first sip, with a generous and glossy mouthfeel of stone fruit origins to follow. A precise acid line drives depth and length, accompanied by crunchy phenolics, which aid in delivering a refined and refreshing chardonnay true to the Yarra Valley and Oakridge style.

Vineyard Notes
Selection for this Chardonnay focused on premium fruit from the cool slopes of the Upper Yarra Valley, Gladysdale (Willowlake) and Wandin East (Barkala), with a touch of estate fruit from Coldstream.

Winemaker's Notes
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for natural fermentation followed by a 9-month maturation on lees.

Oakridge

Oakridge is one of the Yarra Valley's most respected wineries.

Under the direction of master winemaker Dave Bicknell, it has been a major player in defining the modern styles of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Yarra over the last decade.

From the elite 864 range to the amazing value Over The Shoulder range, there's quality at the core of everything Oakridge puts its hand to. Bicknell has rare touch as a winemaker, carefully eeking out the individual character of each vineyard he works with.

Each wine speaks with absolute clarity of where it comes from. These are excellent, masterfully crafted wines and great value to boot.
