Description

Old guard icons are not always known for tinkering with a winning formula. But the considered experimentation in the Marli Russell reds brings these Rhone-inspired beauties well beyond mere project wines.

Named after Sam Middleton’s grandmother, this range is the result of a long-term experiment with Rhône varieties on the estate. The RP2 is a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Shiraz that trades heavy-handed ripeness for the finesse that Mount Mary is known for.

The 2024 season was a game of two halves; a cooler start provided a taut, mineral edge, while a dry February ripened the Grenache and Shiraz beautifully. It’s light-to-medium bodied and very refreshing. You get bright pomegranate and wild strawberry notes that transition into a more brooding mid-palate, all held together by seamless, silky tannins.

It’s a sophisticated, Southern Rhône-inspired blend from one of the Yarra's most famous addresses.

Delicate and lovely

Great GSM, on the lighter side but still a really nice complexity

The 2024 RP2 opens with an exuberant and immediately appealing bouquet of fresh cherry,
raspberry and plum, the bright primary fruit entwined with notes of liquorice, musk and
an array of secondary spice. On the palate the wine is light to medium bodied, focused and
refreshing in character, with flavours of pomegranate and wild strawberry giving way to
darker, more brooding fruit nuances on the mid-palate. The tannins are soft and seamlessly
integrated, providing an elegant structural framework that speaks well to the wine’s cellaring
potential. A beautifully composed Southern Rhône-inspired blend that rewards both early
enjoyment and patient cellaring over the next five to ten years. 70% Grenache, 30% Shiraz

Mount Mary

One of the great Australian domains is in the form of its life with young Sam Middleton as head winemaker.

The list of accolades for the great Mount Mary is long and rich. They are one of the country's most celebrated and collectable family-owned estates. From the impossible balance of the iconic Quintet and Triolet blends to the scintillating Chardonnays and the rare and almost mythical Pinot Noir, there is not a hair out of place in the Mount Mary lineup.

With Sam Middleton in charge of the winemaking process, Mount Mary is entering its second golden age as one of the jewels of the Yarra Valley.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
