Description

Anton Van Klopper’s Noir de Florette showcases his signature approach to natural winemaking—expressive, thoughtful, and endlessly drinkable. This is Pinot Noir reimagined, offering a playful yet nuanced take on one of the Adelaide Hills’ most iconic grapes.

The fruit comes from two organic vineyards in the Piccadilly Valley: the east-facing Deanery Vineyard in Balhannah, with its red clay over sandstone soils, and the sandy alluvial Cemetery Block near Uraidla. The Pinot undergoes six days of carbonic maceration in a 2500-litre fibreglass tank before the free-run juice and light pressings are transferred to 800-litre ceramic eggs to finish fermentation. The wine matures in the same vessels, preserving its vibrant, delicate character.

Expect a light and fresh style, with lifted aromatics and bright energy. It’s the kind of wine that benefits from a slight chill and begs to be enjoyed outdoors with friends. Cheerful yet detailed, it’s a testament to Anton’s ability to bring a sense of joy and place to every bottle.

Natural, organic, and deeply authentic, this wine is a must-try for anyone seeking a new side of Pinot Noir. Quantities are as limited as the wine is unique, so don’t miss out!

93 points - "Squeaky, fresh, cool and alpine herb laced purple fruited number here with pleasing cherry and mulberry characters jostling around. Lighter weight, neat and tidy but expressive and interesting overall. Frisky acidity closes things clean and super bright. Energetic red, with savoury qualifications, but overall fostering conversations around purity of fruit." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

This little juicy number from Lucy M is everything you want from a Beaujolais-style natural vino. Bright, fun acidity with enough depth to keep you wondering. Bravo

Love this, ideally a little chilled, perfect for that summer lunch or early dinner. It's got complexity and flavour though... this ain't no fleety pink water. Give it a go.

12.5% alcohol. This year, Anton’s Noir de Florette is 100% Pinot Noir from two vineyards in the heart of the Piccadilly Valley. Half the fruit is sourced from an east-facing block on red clay soils over sandstone at Deanery Vineyard in Balhannah. The other half comes from mature vines in the sandy alluvial soils of the famed Cemetery Block site near Uraidla. Farming at both sites is organic. The fruit ferments carbonically for six days in a 2500-litre fibreglass tank. Anton then takes only the free-run juice and light pressings and places them in 800-litre ceramic eggs to finish fermenting. The wine matures in the same vessels.
