Description

This fruit comes off a picture-perfect vineyard in the heart of Wilyabrup, planted back in the '90s by the Durack family (yep, the same mob that drove cattle across the Kimberley). Nic Peterkin had to wait years to get his hands on it - but once he did, he made it count.

It’s all Gin Gin clone, low-yielding and packed with flavour. Half the juice went into amphora, half into oak, with different shapes and sizes in the mix to keep things interesting. There's no heavy winemaking here - just wild ferment, some gentle stirring, a bit of malo, and time. What comes out the other side is clean, textured, and quietly expressive. All citrus, stone fruit, and that subtle struck match thing that Chardonnay freaks love.

It’s not showy or overdone. Just really good fruit, treated with care, from a bloke who knows how to get out of the way and let the vineyard speak.

"It smells, feels and tastes the goods, and everything feels well prosecuted."
- Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

95 points - "A warmer vintage yet a cool wine. Plenty of flavour and richness, but not at the expense of acidity, freshness and clarity. Some complexing sulphides add to this, sitting neatly with flavours of dried pears, lemon and lime, yet it's super savoury, spicy and moreish. Sits in the fuller-bodied range without being weighty; seems charged with energy/acidity, with a slip of texture – a little buttery and creamy." - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

94 points - "Concentration of flavour here is excellent, as too is the length of the finish. No signs of a difficult vintage here. Seaspray, green pineapple, cedar, pine, citrus and cooked apple characters sift through hay and rosemary-accented tonic. It smells, feels and tastes the goods, and everything feels well prosecuted." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

VINEYARD

Sitting in the heart of Willyabrup, growing on rich gravelly loam soils, this 30 year old vineyard is immaculate, with no vines out of place, it's almost perfect. It took a few years of begging to be able to pick fruit from this vineyard. Planted by John Durack, who’s family were the first to bring cattle over the top end into the kimberly. The vineyard is all gin-gin clone chardonnay. Tiny concentrated bunches full of flavour.

WINEMAKING

Hand picked first thing in the morning, chilled overnight, whole bunch pressed and fermented/ matured in 50% amphora of different shapes and sizes. We hope that the different sized vessels of different porosity provide differing fermentation kinetics and oxygen uptake into the wine. Providing complexity and depth in the same way different oak barrels are used. The remaining 50% is fermented and aged in oak barrels to provide familiarity and structure. A partial natural malolactic fermentation occured during its time in vessel softening the edges of the wine and providing length and depth.

WINE

Purity is the word that I think everytime I try this wine. Purity and elegance. Pure flavours of Willyabrup chardonnay, peach lemon, lime, green apple, a touch of cream and a hint of flint and struck match. The wine will age gracefully for 10 years if cellared correctly.

L.A.S. Vino

Nic Peterkin’s blood runs red with Margaret River wine.

The son of Pierro founder, Dr Mike Peterkin and Shelly Cullen, of you guessed it, Cullen wines fame, the force is strong with this one. His wines are out there, challenging the status quo of one of the country’s most respected wine-producing regions. This is the “New Guard” of Margaret River, and the wines are coming out all guns blazing.

Nic is playing with some varieties off the beaten path of classic Margaret River. The Chardonnays and Chenin Blancs are stellar, as is the Cabernet but the likes of Touriga Nacional and Sousao all find a home amongst his eye-catching range.

There's some serious substance to his project, being named as the 2016 Gourmet Traveller Young Winemaker of the Year for his eclectic and tantalising releases and recently named the Dark Horse of the Year at the 2023 Halliday Wine Companion Awards. Nic is one of the most creative and boundary-pushing winemakers in the country, without question. His Margaret River range is truly unlike anything else you will find in Australia.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
