Description

Juliard is the work of Bernard and Julia Morey - the second generation of the Morey family behind Beechworth’s Sorrenberg - though this is very much their own project. The wines carry the same sense of care and connection to the land, but with a fresh, unpretentious style that’s entirely theirs.

The 2024 GSM blends 45% Grenache, 20% Shiraz, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Cinsault and 10% Carignan, all from biodynamically farmed Beechworth vineyards. It’s a medium-bodied, fragrant red built around lift and balance rather than power.

There’s an immediate perfume of red fruits, cherry, raspberry and strawberry, backed by spice and a touch of herbs. The palate brings a mix of blood plum, mulberry and gentle savoury tones of chocolate and tea leaf. Fine, silky tannins and bright acidity keep everything lively and precise.

This vintage was low-yielding but produced excellent fruit concentration, and the result is a GSM that feels effortless and complete. It’s ready to drink now for its freshness and charm, though it has the structure to age comfortably over the next few years.

With a vinous pulse that doesn't stop, this GSM shows a vibrancy that many GSMs can only imagine. A fine-edged, medium-bodied, aromatically lifted blend that brings a host of florals in unison with cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry fruits and a gathering of dark and peppery spices. Comes together on a bed of fine tannins and juicy bright acidity and it simply goes and goes. All class in what was a challenging, early vintage for the biodynamic grower/maker.

All Beechworth, all day.

Delicious red wine of slurpy texture, a shimmy of fine, silty tannin, a squish of blood plum, mulberry, dark plum, a dose of smoky tea, dark chocolate, alpine herbs. It all adds up very well. A layer of toasty, woody and nutty spice takes just the faintest shine off the sense of purity, but the savoury elements should play very well with time in bottle. A pleasing, medium weight, perfumed red.

Expect aromas of blackberry, dried cranberries and black forest, leading into a lifted palate of fine raspberry acidity and more-ish tannins.
A wine with great power and depth, while still maintaining elegance and warmth — one for both enjoying now and cellaring for years to come.
