The 2024 vintage across the Mosel plays straight into the classic Prüm playbook. It was a proper cool, traditional year, forcing an October harvest that yielded the kind of pure, effortless fruit that Katharina Prüm handles better than anyone else. There is no heavy, forced power here, just pure charm and total drinkability.

While the famous Sonnenuhr gets all the collectors talking, the steep, blue-grey slate walls of the Graacher Himmelreich vineyard always deliver something far more immediate and thirst-quenching. The soil retains water beautifully, keeping the vines happy and the fruit profile bright and unforced.

You get that signature wild Prüm funk on the first pour before it shakes out into a mix of green orchard crunch, lime oil, and a cool, wet-stone wash. The grape sweetness is there, but a big drive of natural, electric acidity pulls everything tight. It is low in alcohol, incredibly long, and completely unmanipulated.

At this level, the Prüm wines are still light in body, but the flavour intensity and depth of character increase markedly. The Prüms describe the 2024s as both charming and classic, in a union that feels just right. There is brightness and balance here, but considerably more depth of fruit than in the Kabinett-level wines, although not overt sweetness. Instead, it is a question of more flesh, more power and, therefore, wines that can stand up to richer food. Katharina Prüm rightly sees Spätlese as one of the estate’s great food-wine categories, and in 2024 that feels especially true; although the 2024 Auslese-level wines are also remarkable food wines!

Founded in 1911, and sporting one of the great unbroken track records for quality (save a short reprieve during World War II), J.J. Prum is one of the great wine producers of Germany, and indeed, the world.

These rare Rieslings are legendary for their incredible longevity, purity, and articulation of place. They are touted by critics as some of the finest examples of Riesling to be found anywhere on the planted. As Stephan Reinhardt once wrote, "the world always seems a better place with a glass of Prüm in hand."

The Prum family has seen the estate through three generations, with current director Dr. Katharina Prum taking hold of the reins during the 2007 harvest. With Katharina's commitment to tradition and quality from her family's label, J.J. Prum is sure to remain one of the benchmarks of the Mosel for decades to come.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.
